^^True, he is still sensational, but scorers always get the most credit. Ovechkin is amazing, he has scored tons of highlight-reel and clutch goals, but hockey has fallen from a few primetime games to all on ESPN to the VERSUS channel, and the first round you could only see 1 or 2 games and would miss other ones. Some of these places still do really well in attendence, but I don't see the TV ratings getting better, people here do seem like they'd rather watch golf, auto racing. I agree Canada should have a few more teams, but there are reasons why some of them left, so they weren't doing that great up there.

they couldnt keep up with the salarys. The arenas are always packed

Leafs fired Maurice today; the first of possibly a whole lot more changes to come in the off-season.

Yeah man! I'm so freaking tired of the announcers and experts saying Detroit is boring to watch. Even Don Cherry said it. It's not that Detroit is boring, it's that the other team can't compete. Detroit is playing so much better, the game is a tad boring, because the Penguins can't match any aspect of the game. It's the Penguins fault the game is "boring." I wouldn't even say it's a boring game. They act like Detroit is the trapping New Jersy Devils in the late 90's. They aren't playing overly careful or overly defensive, because if they were they wouldn't get as many shots, chances and goals.

If you watch the game closely, it's the same play every time. A Penguin forward tries to beat 4 people in the offensive zone, he doesn't pass, he doesn't dump it in, he loses the puck, a detroit D throws it up ice, and they walk into the zone and get a scoring chance.

On another note, Zetterberg and Datsyuk are the best two forwards in the game today, miles ahead of Crosby or Malkin. Malkin and Crosby can score, but they don't kill penalties, and aren't solid defensively. Zetterberg and Datsyuk >>> Malkin and Crosby. Any day. The +/- says it all. They score, they defend, they do it all.
