Looks like NBA is owning NHL yet again...  (In the States at least)
That's because a lot of people don't care that the NBA is fixed.  And in the states most Americans are prejudiced against anyone who isn't American.  Especially in sports.  I've gotten more into NHL in the mid 90's cause I got tired of a lot of the junk happening & not happening in the NBA.
I think those are good points, about not being an American sport and people not caring about the refs. It's funny how most people ignore the stuff that went on with Donaghy and the NBA and act like it never happened. When Detroit pulled to within 2-1 last night, that stadium was going nuts, was one of the best sporting atmospheres I've seen in a long time. The one thing I don't really get is why all the attention is on Crosby after the series, I understand he's a superstar and was playing hurt, but he wasn't a factor. Malkin was by far their best player through the playoffs, and Talbot and Fleury would get the most attention for the Game 7 win. Either way, congrats to the Pens on a great season.
I got a bird's eye view

I personally gave my playoff MVP to Johan Franzen.  Don't think Wings woulda made it to the finals without some of his goals..  Malkin definitely owned for the Pens, shaped into a real power forward..

Good series, good game 7..  Let the Free Agent/Draft/Trade news begin!

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with 6’2’’, 196-pound goaltender Ray Emery, according to club general manager Paul Holmgren. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

“We are extremely excited and happy to have entered into this agreement with Ray,” said Holmgren. “We believe Ray is a good, young goalie that has a unique blend of size, competitiveness and athleticism.”

“I’m excited to be able to get a chance to play with a team that’s a contender and I’m grateful for the opportunity that’s being given,” said Emery. “I think I have the ability to play consistent. I’m athletic, but I try to rely on a system and make things as simple as possible.”

Emery, 26, appeared in 36 regular season games with Atlant Mytischi of the Kontinental Hockey League in 2008-09, where he posted a 22-8-0 record with a 2.12 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. He also registered a 3-3 record with a 1.86 GAA and .941 save percentage in seven postseason appearances.

Over parts of five seasons in the National Hockey League with the Ottawa Senators (2002-03 to 2007-08), Emery compiled a 71-40-14 record, 2.71 GAA, .907 save percentage and eight shutouts over 134 career regular season games. He has also posted an 18-12 record and a 2.46 GAA in 30 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, including going 13-7 with a 2.26 GAA and three shutouts to help lead the Senators to the Stanley Cup Final in 2007. Emery ranks third on the Senators’ All-Time List in regular season wins (71) and second in playoff victories (18), playoff games played (30) and playoff shutouts (3).

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Emery was originally drafted by the Senators in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

Despite only being one year into his contract extension with the Ottawa Senators, Dany Heatley wants out.

TSN has confirmed that the 28-year old who signed a six-year, $45 million contract extension with the team in October of 2007 - that includes a no-movement clause - informed the team a week ago of his desire to play hockey elsewhere.

Sources tell TSN the  Edmonton Oilers is one team Heatley would consider waiving his no-trade clause to play for.

The veteran forward became unhappy with his role in Ottawa last season, especially after the Senators made a coaching change. Heatley discussed his concerns about what he felt was the limiting of his ice time, and his shift from the first power-play unit to the second unit with head coach Cory Clouston in the Senators end of season meetings.

Both sides agreed some time away would help remedy the situation. So, the issues were left to settle while Heatley represented Canada at the IIHF World Hockey Championship.

Heatley returned and continued to consider his future before finally approaching Senators management with his trade request.

I can see why you say this, but he can score 50 goals a year, don't forget.

Heatley is a one dimensional player, and just had an off year.

HOWEVER, and off year= 39 goals!

Put him on the Oilers with Hemsky, and he is back to 50, and Hemsky finally gets a scorer to play with

Yeah, I could see that happening and being fire..

I expect Gaborik's pricetag of 7.5 to go down to 6 because of his injury trouble..

Can't believe Havlat makes 6, should be at 5.

Hossa is 7.45, should be at 5.5

Looks like Canadiens plan to resign Kovalev, I'd bump him down .5 to 4.  Tanguay is 5.375, wow.  Put him at 4.  I wonder if people have forgotten about Lang, good deal at 4.  There's  your first line.

Yeah he is capable of 100 points if he has people like Spezza and Alfredsson.  I think that whole team was burned out this season..  A change of scenery for at least one person off the top line would provide a much needed change for Ottawa and their careers.  Alfy still showing he's not anywhere close to retiring with those numbers..

keep in mind the salary cap is going downa  million or two and nex year another 2 perhaps

You are right about Tanguay and Kovalev 4 milion each.. Lang at 4 tho... no. LAng at 2.5 plus bonuses

I see the habs line up looking somethign like this next year

Kovalev - Lecavalier - Latendresse
Akostitsyn - Lang - Tanguay
Pachioretti - Lapierre - Higgins( or dagostini, one will go in the lecavalier trade)
Laraques - Metropolit -Laperierre
Markov - Beauchemin
Hamrkik - Georges
Bouillon - Obyrn - Webber

The defense is scary lol i dint include Subban hes gone in the trade for lecavalier

You really think Vinny is gonna leave Tampa Bay?  I don't want Subban to go, he would be a nice franchise player for Montreal to have.  I THINK.
