He's acting like a little bitch...  if a coach is playing him less, he should respond by using the minutes he gets to play as hard as he can..  not by demanding a trade.  I wouldnt want to move to Edmonton either, but if they're willing to take on his expensive contract and accept a whiney bitch onto their team... he should fucking accept the trade.

The Vancouver Canucks announced Wednesday that they have re-signed winger Jannik Hansen.

The 23-year-old had six goals and 15 assists in 55 games with Vancouver last season and had one goal in two games for the AHL's Manitoba Moose. He suited up in two playoff games for the Canucks and had an even plus-minus with no points tallied.

Terms were not disclosed by the club, but The Globe and Mail and Vancouver Sun are reporting that the deal is a two-way contract worth $550,000 US.

The six-foot-one, 201-pound Danish forward was selected by the Canucks in the ninth round of the 2004 NHL draft.

Zherdev got dropped by the Rangers today... I guess they figured he wasnt worth the 4 million/year the arbitrater thought he was.  He's a good player.. but he hasnt earned that kind of contract yet

The Vancouver Canucks signed right-winger Sergei Shirokov to an NHL contract Monday.

Shirokov, 23, had 17 goals and 41 points in 56 games with CSKA Moscow of the KHL in 2008-09. He has also played in two world junior championships with Russia in 2005 and 2006. In 12 tournament games he had seven goals and six assists.

Shirokov, a five-foot-10, 176-pound native of Moscow, was selected 163rd overall by the Canucks in the 2006 NHL draft.

There is a big buzz about this guy for some reason..  Van fans follow his progress...

Vaclav Prospal's time on the unemployment line was brief as the veteran forward has signed with the New York Rangers.

The club announced the deal on Monday, but no details were released. According to the New York Post, the deal is for one-season and is worth $1.1 million.

"Vinny is a highly-skilled player with good offensive instincts and the ability to play on the wing or at the centre position," said president and general manager Glen Sather in a statement on Monday. 

"We think he will give us added flexibility and brings a veteran presence to our lineup."

The 34-year old Czech Republic native became a free agent earlier in the summer when the Tampa Bay Lightning bought out the final three years of a four-year, $14 million contract.  He had 19 goals and 26 assists in 82 games for the Bolts last season.

The move will reunite Prospal with John Tortorella who coached the forward in two separate stints with Tampa Bay.

The Detroit Red Wings added some size and veteran presence up front by agreeing on a one-year contract with former Red Wing Todd Bertuzzi.

The Grand Rapids Press, The Detroit Free Press and MLive.com claim the team was offering a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Bertuzzi, 34, scored 15 goals and 29 assists in 66 games with the Calgary Flames last season. He played in eight games with the Red Wings in 2006-07, scoring two goals and four points and tallied three goals and seven points in 16 playoff games. He has played for the New York Islanders, Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, Red Wings, Anaheim Ducks and Flames.

The Islanders selected Bertuzzi in the first round 23rd overall in the 1993 NHL entry draft. He has scored 255 goals with 369 assists in 859 games over his 13 year NHL career.
