Well, it depends on what type of hip hop you're lookin for, but here are just a FEW of my fav albums of all time. All of these are essentials:

Outkast--ALL 4 albums [especially ATLiens]
2Pac--All Eyez On Me, Me Against The World, Makaveli [but you cant go wrong with any album from Pac]

Gang Starr--Moment Of Truth
Nas--Illmatic
Ice Cube--The Predator
Raekwon--Only Built 4 Cuban Linx

If ya want somethin different then cop the "Lucy Pearl" album.  After wantin to get it after a few months I finally copped it yesterday.  Good album.
