9ft. Marijuana Plant Found In Garage

Investigators are looking for the anyone involved in an illegal grow operation in which hundreds of marijuana plants were found flourishing in a detached garage.

Authorities found more than 200 marijuana plants growing in a home near DeLand yesterday, including a "monster plant" that towered more than nine feet high, they said.

 No arrests were made yesterday because no one was at the West Dale Circle home when authorities arrived, said spokesman Brandon Haught of the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Narcotics investigators got a search warrant for the home after doing an extensive investigation, Haught said. The West Volusia Narcotics Task Force and the SWAT Team searched the home around 5:30 p.m., he said.

They found hundreds of plants in the illegal growing operation, infrared security cameras and overhead grow lights that paced over the plants, Haught said. Authorities are still investigating the operation, he said.

Anyone with information about possible drug activity is asked to contact the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force at 386-736-5249. Those on the eastside of the county can call 386-274-0185.
