Sports Rundown - Week Ending 6/17/2007

So the San Antonio Spurs picked up another NBA championship this past week sweeping the Cleveland Cavaliers 4-0. Does anyone really care though? If it weren’t for Lebron James playing in this series no one would have watched and ratings proved that even with King James on the floor, no one watched as the Spurs - Cavs series was one of the least watched finals in NBA history. Ouch! Now with the NBA season over, some of us over at Yo! Raps will be letting go of our cable boxes and televisions all together.
We’ve been giving you update after update about this whole Kobe Bryant issue and this week’s soap opera looks to heat up again. Allegedly, Kobe met with Lakers head honcho Jerry Buss in Spain and once again voiced his opinion to be traded. (Did they really have to meet in Spain for this?) According to reports, KB24 asked to be traded to either the Bulls, Knicks or Suns. If a trade does go down, you’d have to think that the Suns wouldn’t be involved since they and the Lakers both play in the Western Conference. A trade to the Big Apple wouldn’t work either as the salaries and all that other money stuff would almost be impossible to match. Kobe going to the Bulls seems logical as the Chicago Bulls are looking for a player to take them over the top and the Lakers are looking to go in a younger direction. Whatever does happen we’ll keep you posted on "As the world of Kobe turns".
Don’t look now but the New York Yankees look as if they’ve finally hit their stride and are slowly getting back into the thick of things in the American League East division. The Bronx Bombers took two out of three games over the weekend from their city rivals, New York Mets and have won eight out of their last nine games in total. This streak has brought them to within shouting distance of the Boston Red Sox, but as of now they should focus on locking down a wildcard position. It’s still only June and a lot more baseball left to play. Are we really worrying about where the Yankees will finish in the standings.
San Francisco Giants slugger, Barry Bonds had been in a slump in trying to break, Hank Aaron’s homerun record. He hit his 748th career homerun against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend and now is only eight homeruns away from being MLB’s all-time best. Even with a historic milestone coming up, word out of some of baseball’s big time sources is that Bonds could be traded soon from the Giants .
Football might have taken another black eye over the weekend. Tennesee Titans bad boy, Adam "Pacman" Jones is said to be sought by police in connection to a shooting that took place in a strip club in Atlanta. We won’t even get into this one because it truly is a said situation. Pacman what’s really good man?
