My bad on the vocoder bit, didn't know he uses that antares plug.

Remember that annoying tune by Cher, 'Do you Believe?'

Used the same pitch correction method. The dude in that youtube video gives hope to everyone who can't sing

lmao FUNNY ASS VID

he used outboard gear because you cant modulate the sound wet as hes doing now with his voice as an instrument.. so hes using hardware, if u do software youll have LATENCY/DELAY on it..

It's all about marketing. The voice modulation is something different to this generation so it's easy to pass off as innovative. Plus the fact that he is reggaeton gives him an edge since that shit is hot again for some stupid reason.

T-Pain doesn't use the talkbox, and to compare him to Roger is just a slap in the face imo.

He uses something called Antares Autotune... a program which requires no effort to use - which is why alot of people are jumping on the trend now. What it's supposed to do is correct vocal notes if someone messes up, but T-Pain uses it on every single note. You can download it and try it yourself, so go crazy.

I don't hate T-Pain - I think he's actually dope when he tries, but he sounds better without the effect on his voice - and better when hes rapping and not singing.

Not to "defend" him like that....

But y'all are definitely showin bias, LMAO. For one, T-Pain's voice, style, and sound is NOTHING LIKE Roger's. Just because he uses a vocal effect that is obviously computerized does not mean he's trying to bite Roger. With that...how are you gonna knock him for his style, but let it be cool when DJ Quik, Battlecat, and every damn song on Pocos Pero Locos use Roger's EXACT same voicebox and style? Yeah, Roger was cool with Quik, Dre, and many of them...but he isn't even from the West, even though we claim him.

It's obvious that he can't sing...but if "anybody" can use his voice, then why isn't "anybody" else on 100 tracks? The thing with him is that he produces, writes, raps, and then does his voice box shit...and most of y'all don't know it, but he got signed from producing, raping, and writing BEFORE he started doin the voice box. I have been in school in his hometown, Tallahassee, since 2002, and he got big there from rapping with his group the Nappy Heads. So he is multi-talenetd period, and the hooks he does with the box are just something else he has on resume...but he can actually rap better than a lot of cats.
