But Thai food is the bomb... there's one on sunset thats just awesome, an ex of mine lived by there... they had some form of jumbo shrimp in this sauce that was absolutly smashing!

Sushi isn't supposed to fill you up necessarily (though if you have an extra 45 bucks it can) it's just supposed to taste amazing and fresh...which it will if it's done right. The sauces and mixes of ingredients can be absolutely divine.
