Boy, 15, In Custody For Alleged Rape Of Girl, 14

(CBS) PALMDALE, Calif. A 15-year-old boy was in custody on Monday for allegedly raping and beating a 14-year-old girl, who was found unconscious at an elementary school campus in Palmdale, sheriff's officials said.

The girl, who had been severely beaten, was found about 12:40 a.m. last Thursday at Cimarron Elementary, 36940 45th Street East, and taken to a hospital, said Deputy Oscar Butao of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

"The subject is an acquaintance of the victim," Butao said.

Authorities withheld the name of the suspect because of his age, and did not release the circumstances of the boy's arrest.
