Sony's latest boombox treats your iPod like a mixtape

We've seen the iPod-as-cassette-tape design in older speaker docks like Altec Lansing's
inMotion iM7 bazooka tube before,
but Sony's bringing it back with its new ZS-S4iP boombox, which appears designed for only iPhone and iPod touch owners. Apart from the novelty of hitting eject to insert and remove your player, it's pretty much the generically boring CD boombox it looks like, although you do get MP3 CD playback. It's preordering in black and white for about $142, should make it Stateside in October.

No official announcement yet, but Larry Angell from iPodlounge managed to dig up a placeholder product page for the inMotion IM7, Altec Lansing's new portable iPod speakers (you may also recall the inMotion iM3 and iM4; they may have skipped over the iM5 and iM6). The speakers, which have also popped up in a couple of different tech mags, are a smidge expensive for a pair of portable iPod speakers — retail price will be $249.95 — but you get a built-in subwoofer, S-Video output (if you have an iPod photo), and the option of using either AC or battery power.

They also have a model called “shades” which look like normal sunglasses, and actually have sunglasses on top, I dont reccomend them like “crysta;” cause they have half the resolution and your movies dont look as big and as sharp.

Optoma teams with Apple to launch DLP Pico projector in Japan

At long last, an official release date for Texas Instruments' DLP Pico projector. Mark it down, December 1st is the launch (delivered by December 19th) of the "world's smallest / lightest" (51 × 105 × 17-mm / 120g) projector under the Optoma PK-101 branding. And in a smart, hip-by-association marketing move, it'll be sold from the Apple Store in Japan with an iPhone / iPod kit and dock connector for a tax-inclusive price of about ¥50,000 ($511). It'll work with non-Apple gear too, of course. With up to 2-hours battery life, an integrated 0.5 watt speaker, and white LED light throwing a 60-inch, "dazzlingly bright, sharp, vivid video image" packing 480 x 320 pixels from up to 8.5 feet away, Tokyo's Golden Gai district will never be the same.

Hear that kids? If you use any product other than the ridiculous looking iCap, you're practically playing Russian Roulette with Dr. Death. Speaking of the cap at hand, said wearable packs a 1GB MP3 player, an FM tuner, a voice recorder (really?) and a microSD slot for carrying around even more Boyz II Men tracks on your dome. It also touts external speakers, which should totally freak out any other jogger you happen to pass by. Those with enough fundage to buy something purely for comedic purposes can hand over $119.95 and begin to chuckle right now.

Focal's latest waterproof speaker cases play nice with newest iPod nanos

Focal's latest wares look a lot like similar units that we've seen from Atlantic,
but we guess there are only so many ways you can design a waterproof iPod sound system.
The battery-powered AquaTune nano 4G (shown after the jump) plays nice with Apple's freshest iPod nano
and packs a pair of 1-watt speakers that can withstand all but the deepest puddles.
The AquaTune v2 is compatible with a wider range of iPods, and the 3-watt x 2 power rating is sure to stir up a few waves whilst submerged.
Both are ready to be placed under Japanese trees for ¥10,800 ($119) / ¥15,800 ($174), respectively.
