Fat Joe Charged With Assault

Joseph "Fat Joe" Cartagena was charged with assault after he turned himself over to authorities at New York City's Midtown South Precinct stationhouse on Wednesday afternoon.

Police alleged the Bronx rapper and a member of his crew got into an argument with a 31-year-old man at the B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in Times Square on May 12 at around 4 a.m. and that Joe broke the man's jaw with a punch.

The identity of Joe's alleged accomplice is under investigation, police said.

Police said they were not at liberty to disclose the identity of Joe's accuser. The New York Daily News reported on Thursday (July 11) that his name is Steve Garib.

Joe, who is looking to release a new album later this year, was arraigned Wednesday night and is expected back in court on September 5, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's office. No bond was set, and he was released on his own recognizance.

A spokesperson for Atlantic Records said the label did not have a statement at press time. Joe and his lawyer Philippe Dussek could not be reached for comment.

fat joe is a straight g....i read in an interview in te source that him and some other rapper went to a park and fought....lol...i found that funny....but joe is real....hes not no fake ray-j, memphis bleek type thug....

I heard today that if he gets convicted he could go down for 5 - 15 years  :P Stupid when you think about it, he could of easily avoided this, now he could lose his freedom for a pretty long time.

Fat Joe is the shit...he's raps about a lot of real shit on JOSE...people should recognize a real G when they see one I guess
