Baron headed for Clippers

Baron Davis, who surprisingly opted out of his $17.8 million contract with Golden State, is on his way to signing with the Los Angeles Clippers, a person with knowledge of the situation told Newsday.

Though the person cautioned that the deal was not completed and that Davis' camp had not yet closed the door on returning to the Warriors, there are strong indications that he'll be returning to his native Los Angeles.

If the deal goes through, the question shifts to whether Elton Brand will see the addition of Davis as reason enough to re-sign with the Clippers. Brand also opted out last night on the eve of NBA free agency, but his camp told the Clippers he intended to re-sign with L.A.

PF Elton Brand
C Chris Kaman

That's a nice team, but...with the Clippers luck and BD's history, it'll be amazing if he can stay healthy.

doesnt really matter man,  the current warriors team w/out baron is not even close to a playoff team,  I hate to say it because I have had so much fun watching GS w/ Baron play but the Warriors are finished now,  on the radio they said GS offered Arenas a 5 year deal worth 100 million but he was offered 6 yrs and 127 million from the wizards so the Warriors wont be able to sign him either,  GS is done.

Wasn't Arenas offered 100 mil for 5 years? I think Davis was just considered too old and injury prone to get a satisfying contract extension. I think he's going to stay with the Wizards anyways.

Baron Davis is sick. But going from Golden State to the Clippers just means the Clippers will be fighting for the 7th or 8th seed in the West just like the Warriors were. Im just glad he didnt go to one of the elite teams in the West.
