Tim Westwood. Your views on him?
« on: July 21, 2008, 02:06:03 PM »
I'm sure a majority of the forum knows who he is by now.

Now i might be the only one who likes him on dubcc but i don't know what it is.

I listen to his sunday shows (Saturday is dedicated to Hip Hop, Sunday is for the Grime scene) and it's just the way he puts down jokes, the stuff he asks and says to people during interviews, it just keeps me entertained for the 2 hours and hearing new tracks.

This is the only time i go out of my way to listen to radio. I don't listen to the hip hop session nowadays (I won't lie, if i don't hear about some sort of Hip Hop new album or something coming out on Dubcc, i won't pay much attention to it/won't know about it)

Even though i do support that fact majorly that he's putting the grime scene more forward and out there for people to recongise, it's just him in general i'm actually alright with listening to and acknowledging now.

(Yeah back in the day i used to hate how he spoke on the mic, but now i'm more than cool with it)

How'd you feel about the Radio 1 DJ?

/Discuss.

But don't judge him purely on that video if that's the first time you've seen him.

I'd recommend some Grime sets to listen to, to get a good listen of what he's like in the booth actually interviewing someone but i'm sure 90% of this forum doesn't like the grime scene.

I remember back in the day when hip hop wasnt on the radio one during the day, didnt have tv stations dedicated to it or having tracks in the top forty. Westwood was one of the few people who was getting hip hop out there.

He might be over the top but he has real love for the culture and has made a huge difference to hip hop in the uk.

I will always respect him, went to a few of his shows and he knows how to get the crowd into a frenzy.

Hes sucks man. Always tryna front and act hard. If he plays more than 5 seconds of a track before playing another track and stops acting like a straight wigga ill listen to his show.

the way he acts can make people hate him but what he has done for hiphop over here is amazing both homegrown talent and overseas rappers owe a lot to Westwood for breaking them onto radio and bring them to peoples attention

Straight. Only reason I have some respect for dude is cos he brings people other than Akon and T-pain on the radio and plays all kinda shit. Some people here checked him playing some Crooked I and DPG on the radio. He puts local niggas like Dizee and Sway on the radio too which is dope.
