LAX Review
« on: September 02, 2008, 12:23:19 PM »
I know this topic already has (or had) a thread but I cant find it. I wanted to post my review so here it is. Just so everyone knows I have had this CD since day 1 I just like to listen a couple time before reviewing. Also I don't rate skits or Intro/Outro.

LAX Files 4.5/5- Great track I would have liked to see this as the first single.
State of Emergency 4.5/5- Not as good as California Vacation but very good. With a Cube verse would've given it a 5.
Bulletproof Diaries 5/5- Hopefully this will show the haters that Game can go.
My Life 5/5- Glad Voicebox Weezy didn't get a verse.
Money 5/50- THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE IS THE BEST SONG ON THE CD.
Cali Sunshine 4/5- Had this come out in June this track could've been California Love Part 2 IMO.
Ya Heard 4.5/5- When I first heard this beat I SKIPPED this song, but after a couple of listens I fucks wit it. Luda kills it though.
House of Pain 5/5- THIS SHIT RIGHT HERE IS THE 2ND BEST SONG ON THE CD.
Gentlemans Affair 3/5- Song for the females but he talks to em like bitches. Worst song on the CD.
Let Us Live 5/5- Game does his best Nas impresion perfect. A sign of things to come.
Touchdown 4/5- Game gets it right with this one unlike the misstep on Gentlemans Affair.
Angel 4/5- Despite a lackluster track from Kanye, Game hangs with Common on this tribute to I used to Love H.E.R.
Never can say Goodbye 5/5- Great concept on this song as he pays his respect to 3 legends.
Dope Boys 5/5- Him & Travis Barker need to do some more shit together.
Games Pain 3.5/5- Dint get me wrong this was a nice upbeat song but I just dint like it.
Letter to the King 5/5- Game and Nas school the youngins. When is these two gonna put together an album and for good measures throw Cube in there too.

Overall this is a great album but I would not say it was his best. I put DA over this. He got some heat on here though with the standouts being Bulletproof, Money, and House of Pain. I am from L.A. graduated from Audubon and Crenshaw but now live in Baltimore. A lot of niggaz out here dint fuck wit Game but since this CD has came out I have already had about 15 people ask me at red lights what I was listening to and it was this CD, most notably Money and House of Pain. Lets just hope he contradicts himself again and brings us another classic.

P.S. Big Dreams and Spanglish being on here instead of Gentlemans Affair and Games Pain would have made this a 5/5 album IMO.

You crazy nomie. Canibus is a freestyle rapper that couldn't make a full album if his life depended on it. Fire for collaborations or freestyle sessions but a SONG WRITTER HE IS NOT. I say this with OWNING 4 of his 8 Cd's. If you dint believe me here are the names of them.

Can-I-bus
2000 B.C.
C True Hollywood Stories- Best album because damn near the whole CD was diss-fest which equals freestyle raps.
Mic Club.

So once he can make a CD that I can listen to without skipping at least 4 songs you come back a holla at me.

Honestly after listening to I got say, it's cool, but I'm not sure if I wanna go as far as saying it's classic, I thought Docters Advocate had a few more stand out tracks, But it's a good effort, maybe it need a few different producers than the ones that were on there, but the lyrics were there I think he did raise his Bar on the lyrical content. 7/10 Stars.

SONG WRITTER HE IS NOT

Game is a good song writer? Haha Stop lying to yourself man.

"I done been to hell and back
Left for dead, you know who to thank for that
Finished my second LP without a Dr. Dre track
You can take my soul but can't take my plaques
I'm the motherfuckin snare when it touch the beat
I'm the 808 drum that got you movin your feet
I'm the heir to the throne after the D-R-E"

Probably the worst lyricist of our times.
