Manny Ramirez, who had 14 HR's and 40 RBI in his first 38 games with the Dodgers

is the first midseason acquisition to collect 14 and 40 in his first 40 games with his new team since 1949

Hank Sauer, who was traded by Cincinnati that season, had 15 HR's and 47 RBI in his first 40 with the Chicago Cubs

This Dodgers team has become so much more fun to watch since Ramirez arrived. They are hitting way better, and playing with some actual energy. There is no doubt he is the reason for them making the playoffs. Does it make him the MVP? Top 3 contender? What does everyone think?

he'll only have played in 50+ games by the time the season ends

maybe that's unfair to someone else in the NL having an MVP year

question is, is there really a front runner?

if not then I would not be obliged to Ramirez winning the MVP

although he probably wouldn't win and rightfully so, he should be in the talks regardless
