First of all, Abstract hip-hop is an awful term. It doesn't describe anything!

Second of all, I can only go off what I might see as abstract:

I notice you have Edan in your avatar (great emcee and producer btw). If you love him you'll love Dagha who is closely affiliated. His album Object In Motion is great and his last and most recent LP 'The Divorce' was one of the best albums of last year.

Does Doom count as abstract? He has a lot going on in his records so maybe. Either way his material is always worth looking out for and his last album 'Born Like This' was Metalfingers back to is best in my opinion.

I'll try and think of more...

alternative rap is better term imo

get all Automator's projects (Lovage, Galactic 2nd album, Peeping Tom, Gorillaz)
Soul Position (RJD2 & Blueprint)
DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist solo and together
Wax Tailor, DJ Vadim, Prefuse 73, DJ Krush, Kid Koala
Antipop Consortium - Fluorescent Black
Aether - Artifacts
cLOUDEAD, Blue Sky Black Death, Citizen Cope
Madlib, J Dilla

Rap is not real, I don't care what they told you,
Fake people say fake things in their vocalbooth
- Soul Position - Mic Control

I make it hard to read me, graffiti flow - Rakim - Word On The Streets

Pretty much anything with Dilla or Madlib's name on it is gold for me. I wouldnt say it was abstract though because both are so lauded as being brilliant that their sound is almost too famous to be alternative. I know what you mean though.

Cloudead are shit though  ;D
