Illuminati 2G caught up with Bubba Sparxxx for a quick interview. He discusses his new compilation, The New South, which showcases new and up coming talent in the South along with Greg Street. Set for a May 5th release date on New South/E1 Music, Bubba talks about the album and the lead single, guests and producers, his upcoming album, The Impolite Gentleman and much more so check it out.

Illuminati 2G is here with Bubba Sparxxx how's it going?

Hey Illuminati 2G what's going on?

Not too much, let's get right into the new compilation, The New South. How did the project come together for you?

It is coming along well. I hooked up with Greg Street who I have known for a long time and me and him have been wanting to do a project for a long time. So this project gave us the perfect opportunity to do that.

How would you say this project is different from other compilations that are out there right now?

Well I think first of all anytime you bring someone like Greg Street, he is known for dropping hit record after hit record after hit record. So we got alot of hot records to go with. I wanted to put 6 or 7 of my records on there to showcase what I am doing and showcase who I mess with. The rest of it I wanted to be just unbiased. Just who has the hottest music out there. I don't have to have a relationship with them. Alot of cats I am just more interested in showcasing their talent on this compilation and letting the world hear what they bring to the table. So I would say that is a big difference because his album is not politically charged with who the label would want on a project, it is about showcasing up and coming talent.

Who are some of the artists and producers that will appear on the project?

I have about 6 or 7 songs produced by these producers out of Tampa that I found and signed named Super Daves. Very talented cats. Got some other cats named Poli Paul and Shuko that did some beats on there. We got J-Money out of ATL, he on the album. Kenny Knox out of St. Louis, a guy that is really doing his thing out there on the independent scene. We also have artists from Montgomery, Alabama and Tampa, Florida featured on the project. Dorrough out of Dallas he is doing his thing. Alley Boy out of ATL, and Tight also from the ATL, a artist named Fatigue, who won Freestyle Friday on 106 and Hustle Boy who appears with Jim Jones on a track called Bo Fum. So yeah there is alot of talent on this album.

Tell me about the first single Beatin Down Da Block.

That is me and Dirt Reynolds. Dirt is my dog and he has been featured on all 3 of my albums. I just wanted to put a record out with myself and him and jam it out. We actually put out a couple records, we put out Don't Know Me featuring Kenny Knox. We got that one out and I definitely want to do another one with me and Dirt.

Do you see this project as something that you can possibly release on a yearly basis with new and upcoming talent out of the South?

Yeah ultimately we would like to release something like this at least once a year. If possible maybe even 2 or 3 times a year.

Have you already started work on the second one or are you guys in talks about it?

I am always working so if the situation is right I am down to do it.

Is there any details that you can give about your upcoming album, The Impolite Gentleman?

Yeah that is my baby. Be on the lookout for that. I got Polow The Don, Timbaland doing production on there, Mr. Collipark, Super Daves, all the people I mentioned earlier as far as that were on the compilation some of them with be on this album. So it is really coming together. The Impolite Gentleman coming this summer.

What is up next from the label after the compilation drops, other than your solo album. Is there any other artists that are going to be released on the label in 2009?

We are going to see what other artists jump off of this compilation and then we will work on the solo from the response from the fans.

What are your thoughts on music that is coming out of the South right now?

It is what it is, everybody is doing they own thing and I love it.

Do you have any upcoming shows or tour dates coming up for you that you want to let the people know about?

Umm I do keep that information on my myspace (www.myspace.com/bubbasparxxx ) or on my Facebook page. I would hate to say somewhere and be wrong about the place and the date but you can get all the up to date tour dates and info on my myspace page.

When is the release date for the New South compilation?

May 5th, Bubba Sparxxx, Greg Street Presents The New South Volume 1.

Well that is all the questions that I have for you, appreciate you getting down for the interview. Is there any last words or shoutouts you want to get out there to the people?

Man much love from the south, 09 and forever.

Appreciate the interview.

Thank you very much.
