Beasties are cool, never really got into them a whole lot.  License to ill and ill communication are dope tho.  I liked the punk and live instrumentation direction they took for a minute.

I'll take Paul's Boutique over any Crooked I album, which isn't hard since he doesn't have one.

You're an idiot for saying that.  Every single hip hop act today attracts your so-called "suburbanites." That's the point, hip hop crosses barriers.  And you want to make a stupid statement like that after all the history that the Beastie Boys have contributed to?  Why don't you go look up some interviews with what you would call "real" hip hop heads from over the years, and see what they say about the Beastie Boys.  Guaranteed, they show love and give respect where it's due.

On another note, Beastie and Nas (who I'm not sure if they recorded a track yet, Beastie doesn't say in this interview --> http://fuse.tv/tours/bonnaroo-09/) are gonna be shown in that performance on Fuse this Saturday at 9/8c.  I"m def going to check it out, and plus Snoop performed at the same fest and his set is getting aired that same night too.  I heard Q-Tip rolled out with him.

Hmmm, I know a few "suburbanites" that like Snoop... does that mean he's whack too?  Interesting theory.

you're living in the past bro.

it's been a long time since hip-hop was something owned by urban communities. if you want hip hop to continue existing you better fuckin' pray these suburbanites keep plunking their money down to support this exploitative industry.

and what is wrong with being suburban and appreciating music? people are born in, grow up in, and live in suburbia...and these same people like music....it happens. I'm not sure how else it's supposed to work??? I would love to hear an alternative way for the world to exist...bro, i'm all ears.

attitudes like this keep me away from the dub...net commentators who are convinced they somehow have more street cred than anyone who likes different music than them....

Just out of pure curiosity bro...where do you live? have you been able to keep away from suburbia? are you on some run down compton block? with your lap top? getting wi fi?

I didn't think so homey. I didn't think so.

If you think hip hop....ANY hip hop is a pure uncommercialized "street" thing you are sorely mistaken. EVERYONE likes hip hop and everyone should have every right to hip hop. Just cause some people are from a different place doesn't mean they have any less right to your precious street commodity. Hip hop is the new white fucking bread homey.

wow it's 2009, i can't believe these delusions still exist.

I'm not trying to hate on you, I don't even know you but....really? Please explain yourself a little more.

I would love to hear about the non-suburbia you live in, and the music that you like that the spoiled evil suburbanites have yet to take from you.....

once more, not hating. just trying to have a fun discussion.

I'm sorry if i've offended. I'll gladly apologize for being a dick if you want....but I just can't help but poke fun at the idea that there is some hip hop that is suburban commercial and some that is still "real" and "street".

Hip hop is the most popular music in the world buddy, it IS by its intrinsic inherent nature POP music and it was always meant to be.  You think Grandmaster Flash and Run DMC wanted to only get bumped in your basement? Nah, they want every suburban kid jamming out to it. Don't get mad doggy, revel in the dream. It's a hip hop pop world. We're just living in it.
