Diablo 2 wont work when i start game it says diablo 2 error halt how do i fix it

my diablo 2 won't work when i click on desktop icon it starts up and the blizzard logo shows and when i get to the thing with the diablo2 name glowing in fire a error comes up saying

EXPRESSION : UNRECOVERABLE INTERNAL ERROR 6FF2F6B9

how do i fix this plzzz help i tried re-installing it but still the same thing and i dled the latest patches still error. and i have the diablo2 expansion lord of destruction


OK I ASKED THE QUESTION ABOVE AND NO ONE COULD TELL ME A GOOD ANSWER TO MAKE IT WORK.

but luckily i figured it out if you are having the problem above its simple how to fix it ok step by step process

1.re-install the original diablo 2 DO NOT UPGRADE TO EXPANSION PACK YET.

2. now download the latest patch for diablo 2 original.

3. now start the game up if everything works,which it should.

4.upgrade to expansion pack and there you go the error will not come up anymore.

NOW IF THAT STILL DOESN'T WORK MAKE A NEW PROFILE ON YOUR COMPUTER AND REPEAT THE STEPS ABOVE AND I AM CERTAIN IT WILL WORK.
