A very special introductory article into the world of Promise...

Raptalk.Net had the blessed opportunity to kick it with many of the legendary artists on Duck Down Records such as Buckshot, Smif-n-Wessun and many more this past weekend in Toronto, Canada. Although those were all great experiences, the most pleasant and surprising one was our run in with new Duck Down Records artist Promise.

A Toronto, Canada native himself, Promise was recognized by Duck Down Records after simply sending music to their email inbox. After years of hard work and independent grind, the music finally fell into the right hands, and it honestly spoke for itself. Although not liking to compare himself to others, critics have mentioned the name Promise in the same sentences as artists such as Common and Kanye West.

After a meeting with Promise that turned into an on camera interview (coming to Raptalk.Net soon), we've decided to take that a step further and work closely with Promise, a venture which will feature debuting new music of his as well as the on camera interview which was previously mentioned.

Today, we debut the first of many tracks from Promise, a song titled "Change" featuring Royce Da 5'9, Probz and Supastition.

Below are the following quotes that artists have given when asked about Promise:

Crooked I: "Promise is most definitely one of the sickest lyricists to ever come out of Canada!"

Talib Kweli: "Promise's music is fly. "Outside" and his Dilla tributes were mad heartfelt and inspirational!"

Royce Da 5'9: "Definitely More Than Music!"

Buckshot: "Wherever there's talent, we will find it and we have found it here in Promise."

Enjoy and get ready for a lot more from Promise in the near future. Be sure to add Promise as a friend on MySpace at:
