Don't think its produced by an R&B group but it was released in '84 and it features James Brown. The sample king of Hip Hop. And of course it samples James Browns own records. I'm wrong though huh? It's not produced by an R&B group, damn it, hahaha.

the first hip-hop song was by grandmaster flash and that was in 80/81.

The answer is................drum roll.................. Roxanne Roxanne UTFO sample used was BIG BEAT by Billy Squire. Produced by FULL FORCE!!!!!!!! pull it out and listen to it son!!!!!! Grandmaster flash had his songs replayed by DUKE Bootee and his band son sorry!  Afrika Bambaataa did the same!!!!! back in the day alot of fools scratched records to make it appear as a sample!!!! Trust me...LOL... I'm a DJ not a doctor!!!!!

nah thats 'rapture' from early 80s. krs one did the interpolation on 'step into a world' and i think the song itself was actually sampled by others

Alot of cats had musicians replay  tunes like good times or genius of love for there songs!!!!!!!!!! samplers didn't come out until the mid 80's
