How can anyone think this movie is really that good is beyond me? I literally knew what was going on within the first 5 minutes of the film. It was well acted but way too predictable and far to far fetched.

I thought it did well to keep you guessing and made you think the employees at Shutter Island were trying to make him think he was mental rather than the real twist. I went to see it with 6 people and have spoken to plenty others and not one person said they thought it was predictable at all.

I highly doubt you "figured it out" within 5 minutes unless you were told about the twist beforehand.

A thoroughly entertaining film.

Well considering Ive just said I figured it out within five minutes, I think I did. When he handed him the cigarettes aboard the boat at the very start, that's what made me think, somethings not right here. I pretty much knew that he was the killer within the opening five minutes.

i guess im not as smart as you bez, because i didnt know what going to happen.... i thought the first hour or so of the movie was brilliant, the hitchcock-esque feeling of it, the lost generation post war feeling  (but with WW2),... then it  just got a little too silly and flimsy, and then, that lighthouse scene, just ruined everything, i mean i know movies are goign to have an AHA moment, but this was like a 25 minute lenghth one that was pretty muich the movie telling you exactly everything, really anoying, and then it was like, ok now you know all, the end.... so i think there was a lot of promise, but it just was handled misproperly, marty is still a pretty amazing film maker, and leo is a sick ass actor

Its not about being smart, I'm just a media buff haha. No I mean as soon as the cigarettes went missing I saw the look on the other dudes face when he gave him one of his own and I instantly thought, 'why's he not got his ciggarettes? Why is he having one of his' then that become more questions until I pretty much knew what the plot was going to turn out like. Although I did like it at the very end when Leo spoke to the Doc as if he was still his partner, I thought that was cool. Like a twist upon a twist.

I thought this was superb. One of Scorsese's finest and the best film I've seen in 2010 so far.

Really?

It was pretty good I'll say. Not quite the psychological terror I thought would be presented but the atmosphere was great, awesome twists, great overall package.
