classic soundtrack, one of the best releases that year, deathrow was allways releasin top notch quality. miss those days!

  It was a good project but classic?  I don't know about that.

Since it was like one of the last Death Row releases with whole second dynasty crew on it before Deathrows death RIP, I consider it a "classic", underrated cd indeed. When u hear shit that gets pressed and released today and if we compare it to that CD, then nostalgia gets me so i gotta call it a classic, just like Kurupts Against The Grain Deathrow release.

But what is the second dynasty crew anyway? Death Row technically never had a second dynasty. And if you're talking about the Chronic 2000-TG4R era, only guy still around by the time the soundtrack came out was Crooked I. If you're refeering to the roster Suge built when he came home, this wasn't just the last album to feature them. It was the first and only. I really don't like calling something "classic" based on some nostalgic feeling. Five years from now, we'll be calling all the good or great albums, classics as well when we compare them to the junk they are putting out then. I think Death Row had a phenominal roster at that time with Crooked, Kurupt, Eastwood, so and so forth. This project had some awesome songs on there but the album doesn't have that quality where I can have a favorite song for every day of the week. There are some highlights and then there are songs that I barely listen to. I don't think 2003 was as a great a year for music either. I think a lot of us are looking back with rose-colored glasses. Historically, "Dysfunktional" was one of the last all-new releases to feature an active Death Row roster but that in itself, doesn't make a classic to me. It's definitely not no garbage record but just because a CD is full of bangers and it hasn't aged terribly in 7 years doesn't suddenly make it a classic.

People are forgetting about Gang Related, which allowed people to hear the unheard like Tenkamenin, J-Flexx etc. and the addition of Top Dogg, which would eventually see more new artists be put out all over The Chronic 2000 not long after that where it really put out the 2nd generation of artists on the stage. Soopafly, Top Dogg, VK, and planting Tha Realest all over there. Top Dogg was on a 2Pac video for 2Pac's Greatest Hits album released that same year, then the Too Gangsta 4 radio came out in 2000 promoting Crooked I to the be the next big thing, and continued that idea as evident from his features on Dogg Pound 2002 as well as their own production team. Crook was also on 2Pac's Nu Mixx Klazzics, and had seperate promo vinyls out at the time and a mixtape, before Dysfunktional Family came out. I think people were just starved from the typical solid quality release annually that Death Row were renowned for putting out.. All the material or getting to hear the newer artists seem to be diluted or cut into remix albums
