I still want to know why Ivory Coast was grouped where they were. It makes no sense to me. I'm sure there is a logical explanation but I'd like to hear it.

After two teams were in each group, they said no African team would be placed in group A, even if they were drawn to it-- they'd skip a group and move them to the next group. Makes perfect sense since South Africa was already in group A. So Algeria gets drawn first; Group A is skipped and they are placed in Group B. Ivory Coast is drawn next; logically, shouldn't they be placed in Group C? But no, they skip C,D,E,F and put them in Group G

Haps. Group G will be an interesting watch as will Group A.  Brazil vs Portugal is the only real grudge match I see though.

Yeah I don't get the placing of Ivory Coast.  I was thinking maybe they were just putting an african team away from Groups A-D, but if that was the case why not put them in E? 


Apart from A and G, I think Group H will be fun to watch. Obviously Spain has 1st place locked, but the battle for 2nd will be pretty interesting I think.

pretty tough group for my team (Germany). sucks that Ivory Coast has bad luck again

Italy and Spain have the easiest groups. The other ones are pretty balanced. Group A could've been a really interesting one, but South Africa ruins it. Replace SA with Netherlands or Argentina, and ...

My bad... Found out that day but forgot to post. So Ivory Coast was placed in group G to ensure no South American teams would go to the same group as Brazil/Argentina
