My god, this new Joell Ortiz mixtape..

..feels like a total throwback to the prime hip hop era. The guy obviously has incredible creativity, and he showed plenty of song concepts on his first album. Nowadays though he's added a new swagger to his flow and really improved his rhyming skills and the mixtape is dope as fuck in my opinion. Whether he'll ever get a mainstream hit is a different question, but as far as dope hip hop goes this guy is a breath of fresh air.

I really don't care whether or not he'll have a mainstream hit, if he just keeps giving the fans this crack. 10 or 20 years from now, I think he will be remembered as one of the greatest if the music he releases will have the same high quality as his first album and these mixtapes he has been making lately

Honestly, mix tapes annoy me, so much effort and creativity goes into them, usually some of the best rhymes and so when the album's come out, they are usually not in the same class at all so the original songs become second place to this.

thats why its a waste of time puttin a album out
its almost guranteed the rapper wont be happy wit the final product but when they release a mixtape it comes out better and they are happier
