Why is Drake dope ? Well, he reminds me of Snoop & 50 when they were at the top of the game. Everything he's making right now is hit after hit and I mean that in a good, organic way, not some forced shit. He's also more relatable, since he's not on some gangsta tip and when it comes to women he mostly speaks about relationship dramas and not some "I'm a muthafucking pimp, hoe can only suck a dick, I've fucked 300 bitches last week...". He can make anthems (Forever, Stunt Hard, Still Fly), catchy club shit (Money To Blow, 4 My Town, Best I Ever Had, Uptown, Say Something), introspective tracks (The Calm, Fear, Successful, Say Whats Real), spitting (Ransome, Ignorant Shit),  rnb tracks (Houstatlantavegas,  Lust For Life, Brand New), writes for other rnb artist (Alicia Keys)... Got this own distinctive sound with Boi 1-Da providing more epic, banging beats and 40 producing that dark, chilled tracks for more personal joints. And Jay has nothing to do with him, he's more Lil Wayne affiliated.

I wrote up lyrics to two of the cinematic-esque tracks off The First 48.  They're the tracks I enjoy the most off the tape.  They show case Hayes ability to script a story and highlight specific moments from his life.  It's one of the reasons I enjoy him as a rapper - vivid pictures.

Untitled 2
Quote
My cousin was facing life but his bitch took the rap.
I'm thinking to myself she ain't ever coming back.
By the time she get out she'll be 60, he'll be dead.
What the fuck is going on in that stupid bitch's head?

Lost his other chick when he was walking out the fucking club
Some nigga's brother that he killed so homo started dumping slugs
He keeps losing bitches and not to other niggas.
It's either cause the system or the reckless life he's living.

Getting money is a given.
You do anything to see chips.
Get up off your ass or you never going to be shit.
I want respect even if I got to die for it,
even if my family has to stand over my casket and cry for it.

Lights out, spazzing out, listening to Many Men.
Glock cocked, pad hunt, I'll give it to any men.
Life got me fucked up, I don't got too many friends.
I fuck a couple hos but I don't trust any of them.

Chocolate chin-chilla to match with my henny Timbs
Your boy Hayes got it popping - good looking Mike Lynn.
Interscope signed me so who am I supposed to compete with?
Wait 'till they get a load of the fucking niggas I eat with.

Hold me down cause ain't no promise we going to make it.
Nobody goin' give a shit so we just goin' take it.
Find out who got the highest score up and fucking break it.
If they don't like us now I'm going to make them niggas hate us.

Anybody try to stop us I'm a strike and make them suffer.
I keep a cool killers with me, I call them my brothers.
We laugh as we toast champagne with one another.
It's been that way for years, all we got is each other.

Got to watch who I trust cause loyalty ain't promised.
Whether it's a nigga or a bitch at least I'm being honest.
If I told you I was balling it was just me being modest.
Regardless of what these mutherfuckas may be saying about about us.

I risk my life to make it.
And, ain't no better reason.
What seems reckless to you could just be me doing what I believe in.
Cause where I'm from nobody ever brags about achievements.
If they do nobody gives a fuck, let alone believes them.
And, that's my inspiration to go all out like "Fuck it!"
I started out with zero and turned nothing into something.
Even if you never liked me you got to be proud of him.
And, if they like us now I'm about to make them niggas love us.

(Sample) Glory brushes the same as

I hear the cops coming.
I see my mother praying.
I see my brother running.
I can hear my father saying,
(What he saying boy?)

I hear the cops coming.
I see my mother praying.
I see my brother running.
I can hear my father saying,

I hear the cops coming.
I see my mother praying.
I see my brother running.
I can hear my father saying,

    "Get money or get nothing!
    Get money or get nothing!
Get gone or keep struggling 'cause I ain't goin' give y'all shit so get to hustling.
Get yo ass on that corner and get to juggling.
The neighbourhood we living ain't shit, we all suffering."

Now this is what my mother and father did.
And, bought a crib in the middle of some bullshit.
And, then tried to raise 3 little kids and was surprised when a nigga turned out like this-
screaming get money or get nothing
My wrist is a result of hard work
My whip is discussing them.
My tattoo's breathe "Fuck suffering"

They call my bubble man.
I love bubbling.
I love getting money.
I hate hustling.
The streets will chew you up and spit you out like Doublemint.
My dogs went to jail and they ain't ever leaving.
Fuck the dope, I'm addicted to the well being.
Fuck the poke, I'm addicted to the sight seeing-
Brazilian landscapes, cars European.

You see a well groomed man?
Under that there's a heathen that'll pop yo ass and tie up for one reason.
For the money.
Why not for the money?
Why not for them boys on the block?
Them boys is hungry.
You see what those god damn streets done to me?
And, I love them so I'm blind to see them from wondering
And, with that money I'm humble as Grandma coming in.

Tired of Hollywood and sick of shuffling
These niggas is as soft as cake crumbling
I know they don't like me, I can hear them mumbling.
I know there's no love, I don't trust none of them.
I know they want me to drive when I'm drunk and stumbling.
I got guns if it ever got to come to them.
But here's some kind words to help you through your struggling,
Get money or get nothing!
Get money or get nothing!

I hear the cops coming.
I see my mother praying.
I see my brother running.
I can hear my father saying,
"Get money or get nothing!
Get money or get nothing!

I hear the cops coming.
I see my mother praying.
I see my brother running.
I can hear my father saying,

Cool breeze; I'm hopping out of new Beams
My outfit ran me a few G's but none of that will matter if you leave
I used to be an Adam with two Eves and shawtys automatically do me
Excuse me, all that happened before you doesn't matter
I'm a vision of the future climbing the success ladder

now they will hype slim the mobster's album and hayes' album for 4 years, saying it will be classic and that they will both be heavily featured on Detox. They both will have productions from dr. dre, timbaland, dj premier, rza...etc, features from eminem and 50 cent will be confirmed on their projects.
2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 will each be said to be THE year of Aftermath. With ALL the albums dropping !!!

Until....they both get dropped in 2014 after releasing a few mixtapes and about 5 Hit singles with no video. For one of them, we might even get a chance to have tracklist and production credit. But that's all. Then, Dre signs a new up and coming gangsta rapper... and the same story goes again.

That's what is most likely to happen in my opinion.

Anyway, the mixtape is nice. But i was way more impressed when i first heard bishop (that track "its bishop" back in the days wa bangin' !)

I've been fooled 3 times with stat, gage and bishop. This time, i'll try to not read their useless interviews and promos talking about release dates and producers on the album. At the end, its a waste of time to get teased for nothing.... Its like a bomb ass girl teasing you all the time and saying "ok next month, i'll be yours". If its all bullshit, why get our hopes up ?

Finally peeped this. He's a dope storyteller for sure, can really create short stories in that 5 minute song span. With Dre & Timbaland backing I don't think he'll have a problem with the production side, all he needs to work on his his flow; right now it sounds like he's talking, instead of rapping. I like him better than Slim Da Mobsta, who is more of a cliche gangsta rapper, Hayes seems to be a more conscious one.

Hayes voice reminds me of Kid Cudi, listen to em both back to back and you'll see.

Drake makes good music.  I don't bump all his stuff but some.  I fuckin' hated "bed rock" but he had the only verse on the song i liked.

I probably would still check for a Dr. Dre album in 2014 bcuz we've all grown to talk about the album that never was, y'all would too.  And then he'll do a Guns N Roses with Guns N Roses on the track and it'll be left at that. lol

I guess if Slim changed his name to Slim Mobb and his album contained a little bit of story tellin/perspective of the shit; Slim wouldn't be that bad, backed with alot of Hard Dr. Dre beats and maybe 1 or 2 other producers that make music to fit him his album would probably crank a lil.  Keep it interesting/relatable thruout the album.  Albums like Doggystyle and Reasonable Doubt bcuz they put you in their shoes and not just lookin' at it like a stand byer.

When Detox drops, it drops.  If it doesn't I don't really care.  I do like the free material from Aftermath affiliated cats; be it Stat Quo post-aftermath, Bishop during his run at the Math, or Hayes right now.
