Masta Ace - The Ways.....Explained?

I went and saw Get Him To The Greek last night and theres a scene were Diddy was throwing bottles of champagne and shit and it reminded me of that one line,

"And Diddy had a problem with Stevie Stout got a Cristal bottle and knocked Stevie out"

I just wanted to know more about the happenings and background info on the shit that masta ace talks about in this song.

My theory is that the incident never happened, and Puffy and Steve Stoute did it for publicity.  Just a theory, I don't have any evidence, other than Puffy being more of a businessman then a street cat that would do something like that.
