Puffy get a lot of hate, but No Way Out was a classic record
« on: September 20, 2010, 03:42:34 PM »
Nobody got more hate then Puff.  But if you look at the way this album was put together, and the attention to detail... I'm not saying it was as great as The Chronic album; but it is similar.

If you look at the talent that came together to put this record together, Biggie and Jadakiss puttin down most the lyrics. All-star guest appearances from Twista, Jay-Z, 112, Black Rob, Jadakiss, Busta Rhymes...the baddest bitches in the game at the time Foxy, Kim and Faith Evans.  Production was bangin on every track.  This came out during an era when hip-hop was mourning the losses of 2pac and Biggie, so the emotional impact was intense, and Puff was careful to capture the moment.

Ya'll agree this album is a Classic?  One of the all time great hip-hop albums?

From a talent perspective, yes. Collectively how he was able to assemble everything to assist on the album was dope.

one of the first albums I ever bought after Ready To Die and The Saga Continues, definitely a classic even though I don't really follow Diddy anymore

Forever was a pretty good album too IMO even though it had some pretty pop tracks

Victory is an epic track, hell the video had Dennis Hopper in it.

1. Puffy also played a HUGE role in ruining Hip-Hop so he deserves all the hate he gets. And

2.

Def had some classic songs, but overall Puffy is such a homo and it's hard to get over that when you hear him on the mic.  From his corny raps and adlibs, I just couldn't call it classic overall.

Yeah... kind of feel guilty for liking this album.  But the album does prove that the man did know a thing or two about hip-hop; even though most of the time he was throwing salt in the game.

I don't consider it a classic, I'd say it was just a really good album.

it's funny how people re-evaluates "wack" albums these days, when they realize how much the current music actually sucks..
maybe "Big Willie Style" all of a sudden, became a "classic" too?
back in 00 people would laugh at these albums..

nope, it's not a classic. it wasn't unconventional enough, and it didn't break ground musically.. it just gave birth to Puff Daddy - the superstar..
but it's definitely an underrated album.. i'll give u that..

not in a million years.. the comparison is blashphemy..

The only good things on this album were some verses from Big and Jay. Puffy nearly fucked up his own above-average LP by trying to rap on it.

Victory is my shit, fuck the rest of the album.

Diddy almost created hip-pop by himself, he should be murdered
