Here’s Episode 1 of Media Gasface’s 6-part, NY centric documentary, NY Minute. In this segment they look at the sub-culture of unsigned rappers who sell their CDs in Times Square looking for their big break and the shooting of one of those MCs, Raymond “Ready” Martinez, by the NYPD last year.

Part 3 of Media Gasface’s New York Minute documentary series takes us to my former, temporary home, the borough of Queens, NY. With DJ Mista Sinista as a guide we visit Roosevelt Avenue, the undocumented “ghost workers” of Willets Point, Citi Field, Hollis and Flushing Meadows Park.

Raekwon talks about growing up in Park Hill, learning about the drug trade, and seeing kids from Africa taking over his Project.
The Chef also tells about the Ying side of the Island, where “The Others” live and speak with some heavy italian accent.
As he recalls driving by Sammy the Bull’s crib as a teen,he says why they’ll always be a lil bit of italian spice in his rhymes.

German graf artists HOW and NOSM talk about how the TATS Cru repped for Pun on the day of his passing by painting their now famous memorial mural at 163rd and Rogers in the Bronx.

Sadat X regales us with tales from the days when crack cocaine ruled the streets of NYC (“yo when crack first came out? that was the greatest thing ever!”). He also speaks on Boy George, a hustler from the Bronx (Cormega name-checked him on “Glory Days”) who let Calvin Klein shoot a perfume commercial at his crib.

Torae explains how he met Cam’ron in a New York minute and eventually got down with the Diplomats and got his first peek into the music world. I knew Skyzoo used to be down with Stack, but I didn’t know about this relation.
