 I plan on seeing it in about a week or so, hopefully at an Imax theater.  I saw the original as a kid, but I remember next to nothing about it.  Thought the trailer for this new one looked pretty cool though.  It seems to be getting mixed reviews, although everyone pretty much agrees that the effects for the movie are outstanding.  I'm looking forward to seeing it so I can make up my own mind.

 Yeah.  There wasn't much to the 3D.  The special effects were very sharp though.  Overall, I'd probably give the movie a solid B.  Interesting story and beautiful effects, although I have to agree with what TheRemedy360 said about the dialogue.  Much of it was bland and forgettable. Jeff Bridges had a few funny lines that stood out, but I would still have to say the dialogue was probably the weakest part of the movie.  Even given that though, it was still a pretty entertaining film.

Visually it was a stunning movie and it was harmless enough, but I wish they'd remembered to put any modicum of a plot in there. It was bereft of storyline. The effects and cinematography carried it.
