Visually it was a stunning movie and it was harmless enough, but I wish they'd remembered to put any modicum of a plot in there. It was bereft of storyline. The effects and cinematography carried it.

**MILD SPOILERS**

I understand your point.  I feel like there was a story there, but it was in many ways, a story that I'd seen before in other movies.  Even Clu's interpretation of a "perfect world," one of the more interesting ideas that they explored, I had seen in earlier movies like Skynet in "The Terminator,"  films for example.
In some ways, I had the same problem with the storyline in "Avatar."  While not really a bad story, I had seen it before in other movies, such as "Dances With Wolves."  Or for that matter, "Tarzan."
I definitely agree that the greatest strength of "Tron: Legacy" was the effects.   Even with it's flaws though, I thought it was pretty good.  Definitely not great, but an entertaining movie.  One I wouldn't mind seeing again sometime.

Curious... What's so dull about the dialogue?

Just speaking for myself, I didn't really find the dialogue to be terrible or even dull really.  Just a bit bland.  It did serve the purpose of pushing the story forward.  It just seemed to me however that some of the scenes would have had more weight to them, had the dialogue focused a bit more on the characters.  I do think that Jeff Bridges and Olivia Wilde had some good lines in the movie.  In particular, I thought Bridges interaction with Clu at the end of the movie, was a pretty cool scene.  To me, that was the dialogue at it's best, in the movie.  The dialogue at it's worst was probably Garrett Hedlund saying things like "now, this I can do!" and other things like that that are typical of action movies.  As I said before, I don't find lines like that offensively bad in this type of movie, but they don't do a lot for the movie either.  All in all, I still enjoyed the movie, and as I said earlier if I had to give it a grade I'd probably still give it a B.  When it comes to these types of movies I'm not really expecting Shakespeare.  So the dialogue, while a bit flat in parts, was not anywhere bad enough to be a deal breaker for me.

I hear ya. The characters could put some emotions into the scenes like the ending.
