Camp Lo - Uptown Saturday Night
« on: December 13, 2010, 07:54:47 AM »
This album has probably been discussed on this forum before, but I'll make a topic about it anyway since I've been bumping it a lot lately.

For anyone who doesn't know it's without a doubt one of the best hip-hop albums of the late '90s, but also one of the most unorthodox in terms of lyrics because the two rappers speak in 70s 'blaxploitation' slang for most of the album.  But their flows are ridiculous and the beats by Ski really suit the album and give it a sleazy, jazz-bar sort of vibe.  I'd urge people on here to listen if you haven't already.

Thoughts from those who have heard it?

Great album - kinda reminds me of old school Outkast for some reason. Or maybe I'm just thinking that cause the album came out around the same time as Atliens.

Wish Camp Lo didn't disappear after this album, they obviously have talent.

its a classic album. One of hip-hop's unexpected highlights.

But no, they didn't disappear...theyve released 4 albums since, and all were good, one or two even very good. None match the debut though.

I thought they had one more album, which I thought was decent. Can't find it on my hd now though.  Had no idea they had 4. Will have to check them out.

Uptown Saturday Night is an underrated album.  IF you're tryna find their other album, go on filestube.com & type in Camp Lo.  The other album you speak of might be on there to download.
