miles better on all levels, depending on the spec. any newish pc, the specifics might be application dependent ie gaming is a little smoother in xp on my rig (i have a way old cpu). pretty much every app runs on it (particularly if you stick with 32-bit) and pro and above has an XP mode bolt-on for any really specialist XP applications.

compared to vista it's way snappier and streamlined, much faster start-ups/shut-downs.

4gb...but only 3gb usable by the motherboard. maxed out for 32-bit anyway. you definitely want 4+ for 64-bit win 7 and even vista imo.

yeah i'd say no problem, 3gb is the sweet spot i just think 2 is a little bit ropey. especially if you use 32-bit, that's more than the max it can use.

depends if your paying. in this case its ultimate (32-bit) but its only a 2nd operating system

but for a legal copy i think the home premium and pro versions often have some student promotions and stuff that makes it way cheaper. bit of a rip off at the normal prices. and you can always do a clean install from upgrade editions, it'd never be worth buying the full version at full price. and i really don't think there's much point to 64-bit unless you got a powerful ass pc and at least 4gb of ram, but a lot of people look down on 32-bit as being inferior now.

the methods of activating it (got the daz loader on mine) have worked 100% so far though, its really a piece of cake to get it up and running for free. just have to watch out for major updates and service packs that might ruin it, but at the most it's just a case of getting a more updated loader.

depends how clean you keep your pc. i've used a lot of vista systems with 2gb of ram that have shitloads of junk installed and don't run all that fast. and win 7 is just faster to begin with. ditch vista 8)

Had a vista pc and then bought a new laptop recently with 7

7 really does run more smoothly. I didn't believe people at first.
