dead man walking if included is probably my third fave snoop joint.
his nolimit debut  was a dope album...it had some strong cuts they just didnt know  how to coach snoop in the booth. they didn know how to mix his vocals right over those 808 filled beats.

pay for pussy is one of the dopest interludes ever.

What up, BPG?  Long time, no see.

R&G is perhaps Snoop's most divisive album.  You either love it or hate it.  Me, I love it because it's really cohesive and you can tell there was a discernible artistic vision there for how the album was going to sound.  I think after listening to it for 70 mins or however long it is, you really get a sense of an artistic statement being made, at least as far as a particular "sound" goes.  You can hear what Snoop was trying to accomplish with that one.  Now, you might not appreciate that "sound" or that artisitic statement -- that's alright.  That's what opinions are for.  It might not be your cup of tea at all, so I understand why people hate R&G.  But also, it's for that same principle that I love it; there is a statement being made for the listener to react to.  Nowadays, a lot of albums are thrown together.  There's no clear cut vision for the album.  The listener is left stranded listening to it.  Ego Trippin, Malice, Doggumentary -- these albums have no distinct vision, as far as I can tell.  Each of these albums has dope cuts, but there's no cohesion giving rise to an artistic statement.  It's like watching a movie and saying to yourself, "it had two or three good scenes, but it's not a great movie overall."  Nobody judges a movie based on how many good scenes there are.  Rather, we judge movies based on the overall two-hour experience.  That's how albums should be evaluated as well.  And contemporary albums really just seem to me not to have any artisitic vision behind them.

Here's my ranking:

1. Doggystyle
2. Doggfather
3a. Blue Carpet
3b. R&G (pretty much tied for third place)

...big drop off now...

5. No Limit Top Dogg
6. Tha Last Meal
7. Paid Tha Cost To Be Da Bo$$

...another drop off...

8. Doggumentary
9. Ego Trippin
10. Malice

NOTE: I've never even bothered to listen to Da Game a single time through, even after all these years, so I'm not ranking it.
"Detox" is a myth -- Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Area 51, Iraq having WMD, Detox...you get it now?  It was invented by the Aftermath marketing department to maintain the fans' attention.  Notice how everytime a new Aftermath album is ready to come out, they always mention Detox is next up?  Because they are using the invention of "Detox" as a way to market other albums.  The sooner you realize that Detox is NOT REAL, the sooner you'll feel liberated.  Oh yeah, f.u. Aftermath for fooling us fans.

I like to think that as a Snoop Dogg fan, I was one of the biggest. Not only did I buy all his albums, but I bought other albums that he was featured on. I was on this board all day every day (The posts don't lie), but mainly in the first few years. I even dedicated a website to him, but those days of fanaticism are over. What it came down to was the music. His music went in a much different direction. That neptune laced PTCTBTB album was garbage to me. R&G got some decent spins, but after that I didn't even blink. Blue Carpet was Meh, even Dre bored me.  Ego Trippin had Press Play and that was it. Malice, well that shit couldn't even be a mixtape (Gangsta Luv Included).

So yes, I've heard them all, but I haven't shelled a penny since R&G. I didn't even D/L his last three albums. Even more so, Snoop did a show here back in Feb, 3 blocks from my house and I didn't even give a shit.

but...

Doggumentary ... This album is great! Will I open my wallet for it? Pleezbaleevit!

I'm just saying I'm real happy to have some Snoop Dogg music back in my eardrums. I'm 28 now. I was 10 years old when I saw Snoop morph into a Doberman Pinscher, so I've seen my share of ups and downs in his career. This album sits right under Last Meal.

1. Doggystyle
2. Tha Last Meal

Nice to see you back Big Homie.. certainly respect your opinion especially when it comes to Snoop.  I agree, once he started fuckin with the Neptunes his music went way South and I haven't bought any of his records since then after being a huge fan.

But if you say his new album is even better than the Top Dogg album, then I'm definitely going to check it out.  Good lookin out homie!

If you gut the fillers from TBCT, it's easily the second best Snoop album. I cut some tracks and added a couple tracks recorded during that time frame, here's the tracklist that I now have for TBCT:

Quote
1. Snoop Dogg feat. George Clinton - Intrology (1:59)
2. Snoop Dogg - Think About It (3:37)
3. Snoop Dogg feat. Nate Dogg - Crazy (4:26)
4. Snoop Dogg feat. B-Real - Vato (4:44)
5. Snoop Dogg feat. R. Kelly - That's That (4:17)
6. Snoop Dogg feat. E-40, MC Eiht, Goldie Loc, and Tha Dogg Pound - Candy (Drippin' Like Water) (4:48)
7. Snoop Dogg feat. The Game - Gangbangin' 101 (4:02)
8. Snoop Dogg feat. Nate Dogg - Boss Life (3:31)
9. Snoop Dogg - Round Here (3:42)
10. Snoop Dogg feat. Western Union, LaToiya Williams, and Raul Midon - Like This (3:56)
11. Snoop Dogg feat. Young Jeezy and Nate Dogg - Wanna B'z (4:49)
12. Snoop Dogg feat. Akon - I Wanna Fuck You (2:58)
13. Snoop Dogg feat. Stevie Wonder - Conversations (3:38)
14. Snoop Dogg feat. Mr. Porter - Long Gone (4:42)
15. Snoop Dogg feat. Dr. Dre and D'Angelo - Imagine (4:42)
16. Snoop Dogg - My Peoples (5:41)

And my version of "Doggumentary":

Wow after reading the responses - I owe snoop an apology

No wonder he's so confused about what to release. There's actually people who enjoyed that garbage ass "da game is to be sold..." album. I thought it was unanimous that shit was frisbee material

I've enjoyed reading the replies. You all make good points. Top Dogg was a solid album. I really enjoyed it a lot, but it's those weaker No Limit tracks that I simply cannot listen to.

and, I may be overreaching a bit, but this is honestly the most excited I've been listening to a Snoop Dogg record since Tha Last Meal.
