The D.O.C. was the next gangsta rap superstar. In 1988 he was fresh of his classic Dr Dre-produced debut, “No One Can Do It Better,” and he was rolling with hip hop’s most talked about crew, NWA. Then tragedy struck; a car accident in 1989 that crushed his larynx. The D.O.C. didn’t know if he would ever rap again.

His mangled voice didn’t stop him from writing though and he penned the majority of Dre’s seminal solo debut “The Chronic.” Doubt his impact? “Without D.O.C. there wouldn't be Snoop Dogg,” saya Snoop on the album. “He put a lot of inspiration in me as far as being that superstar that was with me before I was a superstar, that made me feel like a superstar ...enabling me to write songs with him, to take songs from him, to accept criticism from him, to critique his shit and critique mine. Man, me and DOC was like Batman and Robin back then...”

The D.O.C.’s newest album features some of his old friends, namely Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Nate Dogg, MC Ren and Jazzy Pha. The D.O.C.’s newest prodigy, 6Two, also appears. With D.O.C. running his operation in Dallas now, “Duece” will drop on his own Silverback Records. February 25th is the date, be on the look out for it.
