Hip hop tracks with a pirate vibe?
« on: September 18, 2011, 12:39:32 PM »
I´m compiling a mix for a pirate themed party, and I need some hip hop tracks with a pirate type of vibe. Any suggestion?

a bunch of white nerds appropriating hip culture to make pirate songs? aping hip-hop cliches for entertainment? how is that NOT racist?

this isnt like lonely island, thats real parody and it comes from an understanding (and respect) of what you are parodying. when you just are just plain making fun of something and you have no respect for it then its just offensive. i know the forum these dudes used to post on and they all admit they dont even listen to rap! so its not a heartfelt parody. its "imagine those funny black dudes with bitches and bling were pirates LOL"

I don't know man. I don't know how any of these artists feel, but the music is just wiggers + pirates. Just based on the music, The Lonely Island seems way more offensive to rappers.

no dude, people collab with lonely island and they do faithful funny parodies because they actually listen to rap and understand the cliches

these pirate dudes arent wiggers, thats the point. they arent obsessed with hip hop culture, they dont respect it, they dont want to be rappers. they think its dumb and they are making fun of it.

i cant think of none directly related to pirarcy but Redman's - Green Island sprung to mind.. Got the intro where theyre searching for treasure, and not to mention the beat has a kind of hawian nautical sea sound to it.

I agree that they are not funny but it's still not racist.
