The problem with all those albums you named is that none of them are timeless.   Nas' God's Son album is a Timeless classic.  The tracks Nas made on that album will live forever.  The albums you mentioned may have been better in their time.  Like for example Doggystyle represented the rise of the West and gangsta rap and Death Row and all that shit and in it's time it was wayyyy larger than God's Son.  And I bumped the hell out of it way more than God's Son.

But 10 years from now I will still be bumpin God's Son every winter, and Doggystyle doesn't get any rotation for me anymore.  So you have to consider "replay value".

i dunno about u, but most of those albums are timeless to me...i can still bump "dogg food" and it goes just as hard as the first time i heard it, nearly 20 years ago. and to me, "illmatic" is more timeless than "god's son". don't get me wrong, "god's son" is a great album. i just don't think it's as well produced as many of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

Yeah, "Illmatic" is in my top 5 all-time favorite albums, and it still makes it's way into my listening rotation several times a year.  Objectively speaking, it is better than God's Son.

Yes, Dogg Food still bumps, can't be fucked with.  I have no problem with anyone arguing that it's the best either.
