99 Names of Allah
« on: March 08, 2013, 05:13:55 AM »
Mekkan Refugee, transported by a jin/
To a different time where I don't fit in/
But never-mind though, Allah's still the same/
Same as He ever was/
For that I still give love/
Even though I'm far from my Empire/
and past legacy/
A distance across the Atlantic sea/
Thoughts pop up in my cranium/
about my youth along the Mediterranean, sea/
Where I was brought up by a band
of traveling Sufi's who formed a tabligh/
Jammat, they taught me of Allah/
and his 99 Names/
I can still remember the day in 1643/
When they taught me...
"Call him by any of his good names, Allah is near"
he likes to hear us call upon him
He is near those who worship
and call on him day and night,
Al Rahman Al Raheem,
you are our comfort on cold desert nights/
Your are a fire in the midst of cold
and water oasis in dry, daytime heat
when my toungue sticks to the roof of my mouth/
you are still THE OWNER of me/
you are THE DIVINE and UNSEEN/
pervasive LIGHT, INFINITE source of energy/
From you we come and unto you we return/
to submit to your MAJESTY

I spent over a month in a country in West Africa this winter where the country is statistically more than 90% Muslim, and the youth are all into Rasta Culture.   So it is possible to find synergy amongst the two.   It's all Oneness.

What Country?
Islam & Rasta Culture Are TWO VERY DIFFERENT THINGS.

Like Lucky Dube says, "some call him Jah, some call him Allah, but (know that) he is One!"

...I was in Gambia, by the way

Allah is the sustainer, maintainer of the worlds/
He is there even when we do wrong upon our souls/
When we get away from the natural state of fitrah/
That's when we repent, submit to Allah and rememba/

Its caused much tension and indecision within me
This refugee status, the source of much sadness/
Ohhh that evil jin that seperated me from my father/
That accursed shatan, sometimes I can't stand it any longer/

But I must accept my fate as part of Allah's plan/
For evin the Shatan is Allahs creation if you understand/
No atom or grain of sand moves without his blessing/
But midwestern life has a nicca like refugee stressin'

Miss my life and times under the Earths Eastern magnetic pull/
My father and his father exposed me to a vault of scrolls/
Some ancient egyptian texts, greek, and of baghdadian folklore/
Were the tales of my youth, a thousand and one nights to forever more/

It was the immortality of youth I thought it would never end/
Until an evil spell and plot was cast upon me by a jinn/
Although well-known scribes and poets our work was one of poverty/
Nomads with no place, little possessions was our reality/

I guess I wanted more and one day I fixated upon an idol/
Promising me eternal life and wealth I pleaded for its help/
Worshipped at its shrine, and pined for its possession/
The jin then entrusted me with a weapon/

It sent me out to do its bidding in a succession of plots/
Soon my soul grew tired and weary and came to a stop/
Unable to fullfill the contract the jinn displayed the optout clause/
I was to be sent to a far off place and time to worship under another God
