Nas's greatest moment
« on: March 05, 2003, 10:00:07 AM »
"I Can"

This shit a) make me bump b) makes me think c) gets a lump in my throat

This is his finest moment. This is his time. East Coast has been taking over for a while, and songs like this have proved Nas to be Biggie's successor to the NY Throne.

It's a good song, far from Nas' greatest moment, though. The hook is kinda corny but lyrics are great. Inspring it is too.

BTW

It's a dope beat, and Nas is dope on it, but the chorus is FUCKIN' ANNOYING!

And the beat is more or less bitten, they just added a bassline to it, even if I cant remember where I heard it..
Typical MTV-track though..

The beat is just a classical interpolation. Last I checked, hip hop was created using sampling. And it's a very good sample. And hey, what's wrong with commercialism? It sounds good. And I like the chorus.

And I like Illmatic, but Stillmatic and God's Son are better albums, to me.

To clear this up: The beat is a interpolation of Beethoven's classic composition "Fur Eilse", the producers just looped it and added a bassline and drums.

I dont listen to classical music, except when it was thrown at me in elementary-school.
That's where you belong.

I've never been a Nas fan and probably never will be, but I really liked the lyrics on this song. The beat is pretty standard but the message is inspiring and I like the way he talks about really complex history on that third verse, even thought the whole intonation in his flow is to appeal to kids. Very clever, gets a thumbs up frum me
