Not actually saying Dr. J is better than Kobe. I am saying that I wouldn't even think about it until Kobe is retired. I did the same with Jordan, and like you being a Kobe stan, Jordan stans jumped all over me saying, Well Jordan is the greatest... blah, blah, blah. I told them straight up, until Jordan is done, I wouldn't even think about him being the greatest. But in 1997, I was comfortable saying he was better than Jack Haley.
