Game Donates $10,000 To Philippines Typhoon Relief
« on: November 17, 2013, 09:57:49 PM »
Los Angeles, California rapper Game opened his wallet recently to provide relief to victims of the Philippines typhoon.

According to AllHipHop, Game partnered with actor/professional poker player Dan Bilzerian, as apart of his "The Robin Hood Project," to shell out $10,000 in relief. He took to Instagram on Friday to caption a statement on his involvement.

"I know many of you might've heard about the typhoon in the Philippines by now where their death total continues to rise daily and is now roughly about 2,500 bodies found dead with an expected 100-150 more daily says their President Benigno Aquino," Game said on the social media site. "This hurts my heart knowing that many of those amongst the dead are little children. Every now & again there is a tragedy that strikes somewhere around the world as the previous Thailand Tsunsmi, Haiti Earthquake & the most vicious here in the states "HURRICANE KATRINA"..... It is in these times where we as people of this world get the opportunity to unite with one another & give back, help aid, lend a hand, donate or just send prayers....... Well I am one of those people, so on behalf of @therobinhoodproject & my charitable partner @DanBilzerian we are donating $10,000 to help aid in the relief efforts to restore whatever possible in such a horrific natural disaster. My heart goes out to the families & friends of those who perished for only God knows I could not deal with the loss of any of mine. If there's anyone out there who would like to donate anything.... UNICEF.org/Philippines or REDcross.org & to directly help the families go to www.worldvision.org/Haiyan now !!! I am sure they would appreciate any sum of money donated. Thanks for your help & follow @therobinhoodproject NOW as well as hashtag us at #TheRobinHoodProject to tell us about/keep up with other stories. Thank you - The Game"

As of last Friday, the Southeast Asian storm has claimed 3,621 lives, with 12,165 injured and 1,140 who have been determined missing. Many others are still sick, homeless and without food.

This isn't the first time Game has donated to a cause he deemed worthy. In September, he shelled out another $10,000 to the family of a 6-year-old Los Angeles girl who was fatally shot outside her home. Later that month, he and Drake helped cover the funeral costs for six people, including five children, who died in a house fire.

Game's "The Robin Hood Project" refers to his plan to personally donate $1 million of his personal money. The goal is targeted to hit the million-dollar mark by Christmas of this year.

Good for him.  Nice to see him sending money to where people could really use it.  Also interesting for him to have donated $10,000, when China only pledged $200,000, even though they're the second largest global market.

Did China only pledge 200000? Even Australia gave them 4 million.

Yeah, it's pretty sad.  Some money is better than no money, but seriously... it's almost a slap in the face.  Singapore is far smaller, and they even pledged $400,000.  I think Obama said we'd be pledging $20 million, and a lot of the other superpowers were also putting up eight-figure amounts.

But these are the initial numbers released within the first week of the disaster, so it's possible that they may have increased their numbers.  Also, there could be individuals within China who are making donations of their own (outside of what China does as a country or whatever).  It's just awkward though, since I guess there's some beef between them (I read something about some disagreement about water territory that affects their fishing industries), though they are hosting the Pacquiao-Rios fight this weekend in Macau.  So you'd think that they'd also be trying to do some good political moves by extending a hand when they're hosting a fight for one of the biggest boxers today who happens to be Filipino, especially when some of the wealthier Filipino fight fans will likely be going to China to watch it.

I don't think it was more than the US's $20 million. It was still a big amount though, not far behind.
