top 5 Mike Dean productions
« on: May 31, 2014, 09:59:49 AM »
Mike Dean has an extensive catalogue of certified classics and is one of the most unsung producers in hip hop. he's had a longevity most would envy and is still relevant to this day, i know a top 5 is kinda silly in itself as it's not enough and ever changing but it can be interesting when it doesn't result with the same cliché answers (see the usual "top 5 rappers DOA" pac, big, nas, em and jay)

Mike Dean is over-rated and I wish Suge would beat his ass for joking about stealing reals from Death Row.  He wasn't worthy to be a part of Death Row.

you know what, i was about to include in my post *waits for infinite to enter this thread and diss mike dean for stealing 2pac reels with daz"* but I forgot to do it, i swear lmao

anyway you might need to reconsider your definition of "overrated" and open a dictionary, Mike Dean is extremely lowkey despite being involved in some of the most successful hip hop records created and despite being part of one of the most prolific and outstanding production teams in hip hop, he is a multi instrumentalist/beatmaker/engineer with an impressive résumé, but of course, with your very limited discography and references (namely Death Row releases, Nas and Dead Prez albums and some albums you heard once or twice back in the 90's) you wouldn't know that.

wanna talk about overrated, talk Diddy or Daz, but it's risible and nonsensical to associate Mike Dean and overrated.

Daz is the most under-rated producer of all-time.  And I'm no Diddy fan but even Diddy destroys Mike Dean.  The day Mike Dean produces a legendary joint like "2 of Americas Most Wanted" or "Notorious Thugs" then we will talk.  Those two joints alone shit on Mike Deans whole career.

Infinite, you earn bozo points, every time you post something. Diddy? Get the fuck outta here with that shit!

With regards to Mike Dean, Scarface/Nas "In Between Us" is one of my favorite tracks of all-time.  Incredible production.

Hard to come up with 5 top ones. One of the most consistent producers of all time. There is no D&YG with DPG without Mike Dean, period.

Admit that I always loved this song.  Didn't know it was produced by Mike Dean.  So that's one song, big deal.

Perhaps your criticisms might come off more valid if you actually knew what songs the guy produced.
