Now what is one to indicate from that? How is one to sing or rap that Bar out in real time (whether alone or around people whether of Kin or Ethnicity or not)?? Seriously?
I don't understand it. Like, it's one thing to say it on some fuckshit in the booth while in the studio (as an Ahfri-American) ; it's another to permanently put it on a record.
Then it's in a different league when you release it as a Single on mainstream Mediums (radio, YouTube, etc). And it's on an entire different echelon when you're a Prominent Figure of an oppressed people who seek Relativity and Validation as a source of esteem [some normal human nature, others not]. Who've historically been degraded in this way since day one
What is one to conclude of this message? Is one supposed to feel the pain and ignore it? Is one really supposed to say nothing and blissfully engage in ignorance while feeling the shame and disgust inside?
I play part of "To Pimp A Butterfly" on a move with some O.T. today (among a variety of other Rap old and new, mostly 90s). And right when the second verse of "Alright" came on he was like "Why he say Nigga every other word?", he said it so rudely too lol. I said "I don't know, I agree, it takes away from the song" and I chuckled. And dude from Oxon Hill (he Black)
Somebody tell me something, I don't get it

back in the days of slavery the darker black people usually had to work on the fields while the lighter skinned blacks worked in the house...
that's what gaynye probably meant with his wordplay
