Bishop Lamont Dr Dre Tracks
« on: February 10, 2022, 02:52:24 AM »
Has anyone got a list of the tracks Bishop Lamont recorded in the Dr Dre sessions?

Been trying to have a dig and want to get the available ones.

Thanks!

So far I know about:

Oh My God (Feat. Nikki Grier)
No Stoppin'
Grow Up
Hallelujah (Feat. Xzibit)
Change Is Gonna Come

and then there's the Detox sessions he was either featured on or doing the reference vocals:

Back, Back Bitch! (with Warren G)
Flashing (with Dre & Snoop)
It Could've Been You (with 50, Dre & R Kelly)
Who's Your Daddy Bitch

Although I only have Oh My God and the Detox tracks, so if anyone has links as well that would be sick!

I really wanted Bishop to blow up.  Just didn't have the it factor.

Appreciate the Flac rips above!

This would've torn up the charts and clubs if it was released properly. Immense beat with a crazy sample that really knocks on a good system and Bishop drops some dope bars. Crooks team slaughtered the beat as well:

This would've turned into one of those beats that everyone jumped on like Truth Hurts - Addictive back when as its just made to flow on. Bishop nailed that "rap for the bitches" mantra Pac had without sounding forced and fake and he had the street aspect on lock as well. This was another banger:

Feel like yesterday when this promo dropped. Look out for Detox! Dropping right after Bishops debut...on Myspace.

Does Octo still post on here? He was a direct link to Bishop back in the day. Would be dope if someone could hook up the new joints from SC as HQ source files as they sound dope:

Supposed to be from his new album dropping in a few.

I don't really have songs to post, but Bishop is suprisingly one of my favourite rappers of all time. I prefer him over Kendrick. And he doesn't even have a real record out besides the Reformation!

When I think about him wasting 5 years at aftermath, I wish that he had signed with Kanye.
And I bet there are some Bishop-gems in dre's vault. Because we never heard all of them.

By the way, I don't like how Bishop works nowadays.
He announced his new album over 2 years ago. You can tell that dre's perfectionism bullshit is still in his head.
I'm tired of waiting man.

did a stereo version of no stoppin carson ever leak? cuz the full song only dropped in mono but the first snippet that dropped for it was in stereo which is funny lol. crooked i even rapped over the stereo looped beat from the snippet but bishops song never dropped in stereo

Don't think so, there were a few different rips but all mono.

Side note: Bish over Khalil beats was a perfect match.

They're like a Johnny J and Pac level combination. And thats because you can tell Bish wrote his rhymes in 5 minutes and all of Khalils beats have the same percussion :p

heeey hey hey, watch you mouth  ;D ;D ;D

johnny j and pac chemistry was smth magical and smth ruled hiphop for a while.

i got ur point by the way. bishop was lucky to have those producers around like khalil, focus, nottz and others and even for mixtapes he picked bangers always. khalil had good chemistry with 50 and xzibit also right?

khalil is definately underrated.

Its true though ;)

When you get that winning mix like Jay Z over Just Blaze and the tempos of creation and creativity match you get so many bangers. JJ could knock out beats as quick as Pac because both of them worked on pretty much autopilot and it shows. Bishop and Khalil bought that feeling back because if you don't have to tell the beatmaker what you want and waste time because he already feels the vibe (and vice versa) the creativity flows.

Was never with that Dre style of do it a thousand times because that first take raw passion cut is where it at as it feels less polished but more real. Way more emotion that way and you get that urgency which the Bish joints linked have. Later you could tell when he started overthinking and getting his Dre on as there was a shift in his style. Not backwards or forwards, just sideways.

Sometimes you get the right beatmaker and the right vocalist and its on, all they can do is make hits because it just works.

Shame he didn’t blow given fact how hard he grinded for Dre.
But: He did get to release a lot of album quality material to the public, no strings attached. Some of the best music of those years to me came out from him in 07/08
