for 8 years in Ukraine, the government army has been shelling its own territory with Russian residents who did not accept the armed coup and the seizure of power by fascist forces.  On February 24, Putin recognized the independence of the territories in Ukraine that wanted to secede from Ukraine and sent in troops.  Russia is positioning this as the liberation of Ukraine from nationalists and fascists, launching missile strikes on military infrastructure.

America and the European Union applied sanctions to Russia.  On both sides, the common people are suffering.  Whatever the goals are, you need to stop the war and negotiate.  Russian nuclear forces are on alert.  I hope reason prevails.
