It's like you read my mind. I saw his post and thought the exact same thing.

It would be great to have a lengthy Dj Pooh interview. Maybe on White Label Radio. Certain not Vlad or Drink Champs.

Drink Champs is better than GladTV

Pooh should be interviewed by Allaccess f.e.

always thought that this was one of Poohs more underrated beats...in fact his production as a whole on "Tha Doggfather"

good platform but I'm envisioning a more laid back and personable platform. Like a DC but someone that's a fan and knowledgeable about Pooh.

Great thread!!   DJ Pooh is an under-rated legend, the guy can do it all, from producing, to writing, to acting, music, movies.  The West Coast wouldn't be what it was without DJ Pooh for sure.  He was apart of some of the biggest moments like "New York, New York" and Friday.

Forgot that he did "It Was A Good Day".  He did "Check Yo-Self" also?  Damn.. that's dope.

See.. I don't know all the stuff this guy has done he was like always in the background and it seems you hear of something else great he did every now and then.  His big moment to shine was when he got to play Dr. Dre for Snoop's sophmore LP and gave Snoop a new sound to rock to.  I know the album was under-whelming at the time but I never blamed Pooh for that.

(I blamed more like Sophmore slump, Dre leaving the label, Pac dying, Suge in jail and the atmosphere at the time)

Did he produce No Vaseline or was that Sir Jinx?

He worked with Kam, too, right?

No Vaseline wasn't a DJ Pooh production, and yes he has produced for Kam on his album Neva Again as well as his own album.

No one is showing love for Pooh's 'Bad Newz Travels Fast' album from 1998?  That whole album is full of trunk-rattling, futuristic funk like Snoop's 2001 track from Tha Doggfather but taken one or two steps further.  Definitely check it out if you haven't gotten round to listening to it yet.

Definitely a West-coast legendary producer and one I've appreciated more in the past year or so as I've sought out more of his work.  Here's my top 10 in rough order for what it's worth:

10. Del Tha Funkee Homosapien - Dr. Bombay
9. King Tee - Got It Bad Y'all
8. Tha Dogg Pound - New York, New York
7. Mister Grimm - You Ain't Shit
6. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Up Jumped The Boogie
5. Kam - No Idea
4. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Hit Rocks
3. T-Lee - Bad Newz Travels Fast
2. Threat - Get Off
1. 2Pac/Outlawz - When We Ride
