Not denying it,I'm saying that to say Snoop not selling like Doggystyle is a reflection of that and not his shit being weak.
Wow 1.5 Doggfather!?7 days of funk 0.7Dead Man Walkin 1Lost session & r&g 2Missionary 3.8 How old are you?
eminem still debuting at number 1there’s tons of hip-hop still doin numbers despite the quality bein down
Not like the 90s-mid 2000s, that's my point.
true but the top sellers not doin as bad as this album
Here’s my thing with that bro, I don’t think it’s even about the sound but if you linked Dre up with any other rapper in his 50s that’s looked at as more a celebrity figure rather than a rapper, the sales would still be the same and to even make the charts that point is a feat in itself. Eminem is still looked at as a rapper so his credibility is higher from a rap stand point than Snoop so he’ll obviously out perform on the charts.
What does my ratings tell you?
You re a 2000's baby. Aint nuthin wrong wit dat btw
You re a 2000's baby. Ain t nuthin wrong wit dat btwok, doggfather was not up to expectations. But giving it 1.5/5 and 3.8 for Missionary is incomprehensible.there were songs like:Doggfather, Up Jump Tha Boogie, Me and My Doggz, You Thought, Groupie, sixx Minutes, OJ Wake Up, Snoops upside y'a head, Just to name a few. and every one of these songs shits on Missionary. Not even talkin bout dead Man Walkin with May I, Hits rocks, Head Doctor, Tommy Boy, Change gone comes, Gangsta Walk... there are some Classics right here
not to sure i totally agree on him not making timeless hits being 100% a conscious decision… it could be. but since we are not in his mind, we cannot decisively say that dre can produce a song as timeless as Gin N Juice in his current state. you can absolutely speculate on that and it might even be the case, but i don’t share that belief definitively. again.. it’s not about me not liking the music. dre has made hits that get played in clubs 30 years later. this simply doesn’t have that value. that is the exact definition of falling off. debuting at number 20 on the charts when he used to debut at the top of the charts.. once again.. is the objective definition of falling off.
haha, how can you say none of these songs will be timeless hits, they've literally been out less than a month. I can tell you when Gin N Juice first came out, it wasn't getting played at clubs. It took a while to catch on. Then we had a long stretch where it wasn't being played at all, now finally rap like that is making a resurgence from a nostalgia and marketing standpoint. "Dre has made hits that get played in the clubs 30 years later" Great, if nothing from Missionary is being played 30 years from now, you can say you were right. Like the other person said, i think it's more that the culture's tastes in music has changed and less about Dre not making songs that old school people like anymore. Right now Outta Da Blue is getting played all over, i heard it on the Gin and Juice commercials, online in different ads, the new video game, i just saw a Netflix ad for some show or movie and that was playing in the background. No other Snoop song from his last couple albums is getting this much mainstream airplay.
