Production wise. Yes absolutely, if not even better than Dre. But Quik is a horrible businessman and that’s hurt him throughout his career. How many labels has he been with since he started?  Quik says he needs the machine behind him like Dre does. The difference is, Dre went out and built his own machine. Quik keep hoping someone will give him a machine and then not take it away when his bipolar ass starts acting crazy.

Be the best ‘Quik’ you can be and stop wanting to be Dre. Seems like Quik’s had a hard on for Dre ever since they did Put It On Me and Contagious. 

He had a great roster of talent, including Suga Free, HiC, 2nd II None, Playa Hamm, Tweed Cadillac, etc. and instead of promoting and producing for them and building a record label around them, he’s spent the past years trying to get over people like Amir, Gift Reynolds, Shawn Anthony, David Blake Jr.  And he’s failed miserably with all of them.

Quik was a victim of going against the Dr Dre machine during the west coast heyday. Crazy to think he wasn’t even a part of the Up In Smoke tour but he was in and out of beefing with Dre. But agreed production, mixing mastering he is elite. And lyrically he has always been nice

but when the artist says, thast cocky to me.

Quik was an elite beatmaker in his prime, but he is not on Dre's level as far as music production.  Dre really has no competition in hip-hop as far as real music production.  From NWA, Snoop, Dogg Pound, Eminem, 50 Cent, Nate Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Anderson Paak.   

He had a hand in half of the top 10 selling rap CD's of all time and 8 of the top 20. 

And if you believe like I do that sales aren't the only thing that matters, critically Dre has had a part in at least 8 of the top 50 rated rap albums of all time.   

I absolutely love DJ Quik's production/beats and think he is a west coast legend, but he is not on the same level or conversation as Dre.
