neva considered this as a classic.

to me this is somewhere half between the no limit weak ass trash Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told and the doggystyle records masterpiece Tha Last Meal.

When this came out i aint wanna buy it at all thought snoop is washed up, and burn out rapper.

but i saw on tv the 1st single G bedtime stories and really liked the funny horror theme video, than i saw the cd in a record store and saw Sticky Fingaz on it I have to bought!

after this 2 track i heard the ultimate hit b please and got faith in snoop again!

snoopafella and party with a dpg are my last 2 choose for the top 5 tracks.

but i really lik the dolomite intro, and skit! doin too much, in love with a thug and my heat goos boom are tight jams too!

Good thread but a couple of the joints you posted were wack.  "G Bedtime Stories" was the worst lead single/video to a classic album--ever.   And "Down For My Niccaz" is No Limit garbage that ignorant rap fans in KC thought was the only reason worth buying the Top Dogg album.

My 5 joints from the album are

1.  "Bitch Please" - set off the West Coast resurgence and gave rise to Xzibit's transition from underground to star
2.  "Dipppin" - The first big official Dre/Snoop reunion on the mic
3.  "Buck-em" - Sticky was down with Dre and Aftermath at the rhyme (time)
4.  "My Heat Goes Boom" - this joint goes hard and is an actual diss detailing an actual event makes the joint even harder, he performs it from the backseat with his homies in one of those Smokefest st8 to videos

^^^^ those are the obvious choices.  Those are 4 of the biggest bangers in rap history.  After that it's kind of a toss up for me, a lot of good cuts to round out the album, but I'll go with..

5.  "in Love With A Thug" which is based on a true story and a good 90's rap/love song.  Better than Daz "Only For You" but not as good as Master P's "I Got the Hook Up" feat. Sons of Funk

They dropped the album with very little promotion.  Snoop was really at a down period cause he'd alienated his true West Coast fans with Da Game album and No Limit was startin to fade out.  So it was put up or shut up time for Snoop.  In a way it as like the moment of truth for the 2nd act of his career.

Album was a slow burner.  1st week sales were just off die hard fans, name recognition, and the few No Limit fans left who bought anything No Limit put out.  That was enough to nearly get him 200,000.

Then later.. with hardly any fanfare they dropped "Bitch Please".   Then the rest was history as they say.

IMO is important, BUT eastsidaz NEVA was no limit.

last meal came out on no limit. that was the 3rd album in a 3 album deal.

these are facts.
not opinions...

I didn't like any Snoop albums after Last Meal and the 2nd Eastsidaz album (other than Snoop Lion)

My top 5 in no order would be:

- Buck 'Em
- Just Dippin
- Buss'n Rocks
- 20 Minutes
- Party With A D.P.G.

Honourable mention to Don't Tell because of the smoothness of Quik's production.

No surprise that these are most of the harder tracks on the album.  Like most Snoop albums it could have done with trimming down a bit, though it's not that any of the tracks I consider as excess are bad or anything, I still listen to them when the album is on.
