We already had a solo from Rage on Death Row and that shit was in 97' and yet it came out weak.  How would it be possible that now in 2024 all these years later she would do something special?

I was at the record stores the day Rage dropped summer of 97'.  I also bought the Nothing to Lose soundtrack.  Nothing to Lose had Daz and Soopafly banger on it, and it also had a Master P joint on there and it was right when Master P was really starting to emerge with the "I'm Bout It" movie--everyone remembers that soundtrack especially for "C U When You Get There" a lovely song by the late Coolio RIP.

but ultimately a dissapointing day at the record store.  Nothing To Lose wasn't a great summer soundtrack like the previous summer I was listening to classix like the Show and even Sunset Park and still bumping Murder was the Case regularly in my rotation.  Imagine, summer of 96' I had the Dre Source Cover on my dresser, guess what was on my dresser summer of 97??  It was Rolling Stone magazine "THE NEW KING OF HIP-HOP" with Puffy on the Cover  :grumpy:

--summer of 97' was like the most depressing summer of my fuccing life, and I'm holding Rage partly responsible.

-----------------------------------------------

(RANT CONTINUED)...It was like how did my life fall so hard that I went from "Afro Puffs" anthem summer of 94' my homies and I smoking on rooftops and shit and hitting homeruns and all the girls cheering for me in Little League to Summer of 97' I'm a freshman in highschool and these muthefuckaz are literally throwing CHANGEUPS!!   On any good pitcher I used to have this trick I'd been using since age 9--I used to always cheat by taking a lead step right as the pitcher was releasing the ball so I was already out in front of the fastest pitchers in little league.  We had guys on the team better than me going 0-4 against these guys and I would be sitting at like 2-4 against the top guys.  Just from one simple little cheat of taking an early lead step into the pitch.

Well...summer of 97' I was 15 and that was the end of my great dayz of summers.  Why?  Because now I'm in highschool so you are a dork if you ride a bicycle.  My summers used to be spent riding my bike all around the city hanging out with homiez and meeting up with girls well now if you don't have a car no girls are gonna talk to you and if you ride a bike then everyone laughs at you--and no girls cheering for me on the baseball fields anymore because NOW WHEN YOU TAKE A LEAD STEP THE PITCHERS ARE SO GOOD THEY KNOW HOW TO THROW MUTHAFUCKIN CHANGEUPS!!!!   And anyone that knows baseball knows that if you get caught out in front of a pitch you end up out in front and send a weak pop up right to the center of the infield for an easy out.  BASEBALL CAREER OVER AND SUMMERS OVER because now pitchers can pitch changeups, LADY OF RAGE'S ALBUM IS TRASH, 2pac is dead, Dre is in hibernation, PUFFY is on the Cover of Rolling Stones as THE NEW KING OF HIP-HOP, and my childhood is over.  THANK YOU LADY OF RAGE FOR RUINING MY LIFE.  It's been all downhill ever since for me.

What the fuck am I reading? Bro, are you off your meds?

his production fits her style to a t

I do like her over G-Funk beats as well...she can spit over anything...she's that good

She can spit over anything agreed.  I cant wait to see her live next week.  I like how she went super fast on the Primo beat… instead of pausing to breath she raps faster… Dpg demi goddess!

I would like to nominate this for post of the year

I am honored, this is really a big moment for me.   :'(

I’d like to thank my dad, for anonymously donating his sperm and ejaculating in a tube to an early 1980’s fashion magazine in the bathroom at Kansas University Med.  Go Jayhawks!  I’d like to thank Sccit for enabling me and actually reading my posts.  I want to thank HighEyeCue for his good taste in 90’s rap music.  And Suge Knight for being an inspiration all these years and staying down and keeping it real.  Love you all.

And oh yeah, Siavash for nominating me for this award!  Thank you  :'(

Is this some kind of performance art?

I was bummed about Tupac and the lack of new Dre material and whatever else in '97, and I am maybe a few years younger than this poster, but woah. This can't be for real.

Yes of course it's real.  Allow me to explain...

you see... maybe I didn't explain properly for the people that aren't fans of baseball or never played little league.  You see with a fast pitcher you are usually late on a pitch.  They don't allow the best pitchers to start throwing "junk" until they are in highschool because it can permanently damage their arm when they are young.  So pitchers don't start throwing curves, sliders, off-speed stuff like changeups, cutters, knuckleballs—they don't start throwing those until highschool.

So to avoid being late on a pitch I'd always cheat and take an early lead step as the ball was coming out of the pitchers hand in little league.   But June 96' when Lady of Rage was releasing her debut album was my first year of highschool ball and the same day I bought the Lady of Rage piece of shit solo album, was the same day of my first game against a real pitcher.  He saw me cheating and taking an early lead step, so he throws an offspeed pitch (change-up) that catches me way out on my front foot, so I have no power, I am all arms, so you end up just taking an ugly wack at the ball and sending a weak pop up to the middle infield.

I was out and that was the end of my little league career, my baseball playing days were over.  And I promise you if Lady of Rage would've put out great solo album like Dogg Food then I would've found a way to adjust to the offspeed pitch and I would've sent that mutherfucka over the outfield fences like I did in 96'.

I can prove it to you..

At 13, middle of grade 8, my parents grounded me for getting bad grades in school—so that was in December 1995 right around the time of the release of the Dogg Food album.  So basically my punishment was to sit in my room and study the Dogg Food album all Christmas and New Years.  So naturally my life actually became even better and putting into practice all I'd learned from Daz and Kurupt I basically ruled the school for the rest of the year.
